The first Purge appears to be about reckless violence allowed by national law, but in the second Purge it was revealed that this was a way of getting rid of the poor class and distracting people from real problems in the government, like the Roman coliseum games did. And a lot of recent movies have this as a theme, like The Hunger Games which is basically Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.Originally posted by WIItard View PostI've never seen Purge, thought it was just about a lawless night with running all over the place doing whatever they wanted to do? If so not what I'm talking about. Movie looked dumb so I have never seen one. There's 3 of them now?
In the Purge 2, by encouraging people to kill one another, and having a secret paramilitary police come in and kidnap the poor so the rich could hunt them for sport, the movie capitalized on fears of the 99% in the same way the past few zombie movies did with terrorism and the economy.Sex is the great leveler, taste the great divider. - Pauline Kael

I bought a bandana for a Black panther on Friday who was there during the Dallas shooting. I was in a military store buying a new overpriced backpack and he was sitting in a walker begging people for accessories. I know, I know, but it was only $5 and it wasn't like he was buying alcohol. Plus how often do you meet an original Black Panther circa 1967?
Anways, I got to talking with him about the shooting and he said he was there and it happened when everyone was tired, some were at the local McDonald's, and a lot of them were about to head home when they heard guys shots. I could tell he was upset and I remember he said people like that give everyone a bad name.Sex is the great leveler, taste the great divider. - Pauline Kael

My heart sunk like a stone when I saw this and learned of Officer Jackson's death. What a wonderful man with a beautiful heart. I feel terribly for his wife and his child. Now his little one won't get to grow up with his dad. The whole family is shattered. How much of this is really about race anymore?Originally posted by akaTrex View Post

Not BO's doing. The US has been sliding towards socialism and political correctness which in the end means no one is responsible for themselves. I'm a fuck up because the mean old rich guys made me that way, where's my government check. Where's my housing allowance. I smoke crack because The White people are mean to me. I'm white but I smoke crack because the mean rich people are keeping me down. Etc. etc. etc.Originally posted by Jackxxx View PostThings are only going to get worse and worse. The source of all these problems we are living today has one name: barack obama. He has been the orchestrator of all these catastrophes. And so many people is stupid enough to believe in what he or his apprentice crooked killary says. Could understand if criminals, people without education that don't have work ethic or professionalism voted for him or her, but what I see as a normal American, I can imagine voting for people like this.
Think some of these black and white people need to go listen to some MLK speeches, he didn't say to be lazy for sure.7 1/4 inches x 5 1/4 inches Spring 2014

The Black Lives Matter movement is nothing more than a political front group for the Democrat party. Just follow the money, and you'll find that billionaire George Soros is the one who has given right around 30 million to date, to this group to hire and pay professional rioters, and the one's who don't get paid to help riot, destroy public property like police cars, vandalize and beat up people are truly the one's who are a couple tacos short of a combo plate!-Foldus,

And as Marlon pointed out, it is true and confirmed that George Soros is behind the founding of all these domestic terrorists. And anybody who votes democrat is part of the problem. I am not saying Trump is everything the county always needed, but if you put crooked killary and everybody who surrounds her next to Trump and everybody who surrounds him, there is no question on who to vote for. Trump is a complete mystery but I am willing to try and test something new and different instead of staying with the same that has brought this country to some of the worst times Crooked killary will be just a continuation of obama. If obama had something bad, killary will amplify every single one of those aspects.

Anyone see this?

Not the first time they've done it either. I remember reading about a sick child in Memphis trying to get to hospital and they had to take a 25 mile detour because BLM had blocked a bridge and wouldn't let them through.

Why can't we empathize with the black community that they feel they are being treated unfairly and at the same time support our good police officers. Just because you support the right to protest does not mean you support violence. Calling BLM a terrorist group is doing the same as saying all police are racist. Out of the millions of protesters, only a few are violent. Just like out of the 800,000 cops, a few are racist.
Just because you support the police doesn't make you racist anymore then supporting the black community means you hate police.
Most people and especially the media want to make this black and white. This is a complex issue.
And to the statistics, yes more whites are killed overall. But blacks are killed at a much higher percentage then whites based on population. Its not even close. Thats called twisting the facts to fit your agenda.Start 3.16.15 - 7bpel, 6bpel, 5meg

Why are blacks killed more? Police departments place their resources where they are most needed. It's not that each neighborhood gets a set number of officers.
It is the majority black and low income areas where 911 is called most by the residents there. They want the area safe. With more police in an area the more crime will be observed and hopefully stopped. Maybe if the residents here stopped calling the cops there would be no issue? The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

If you want to talk about fact twisting, look at these two tables for 2012 and 2014. Legitimate fbi resources, which show the black community commit crimes at a higher rate, and violent crimes at a a much higher rate.Originally posted by dmizzle View PostWhy can't we empathize with the black community that they feel they are being treated unfairly and at the same time support our good police officers. Also add in the fact that they are 20% less likely to get fatally shot when confronted by officers. http://www.nber.org/papers/w22399.pdf. An excerpt:
"The importance of our results for racial inequality in America is unclear. It is plausible thatracial differences in lower level uses of force are simply a distraction and movements such as BlackLives Matter should seek solutions within their own communities rather than changing the behaviorsof police and other external forces.Much more troubling, due to their frequency and potential impact on minority belief formation,is the possibility that racial differences in police use of non-lethal force have spillovers on myriaddimensions of racial inequality. If, for instance, blacks use their lived experience with police asevidence that the world is discriminatory, then it is easy to understand why black youth investless in human capital or black adults are more likely to believe discrimination is an importantdeterminant of economic outcomes. Black Dignity Matters."
The only twisting of facts is saying the black community has a target on it's back. These resources, thoroughly researched, show that the victim narrative does not fit with reality.

they arent killed more... They are killed with higher statistical frequency. Likely because statistically their population commits a higher percentage of violent crimes. However, this argument is labeled racist despite finding its roots in hard stats provided by the FBI.

Ironically if black lives really mattered to this group then the question needs to be asked..... do all the black lives that have been lost in the inner cities all across America at the hands of other black people matter? Just this year if you add up the deaths in Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, New York, Oakland and Los Angeles it's well over 1000 and we are barely 7 months into the year. Couple that with the rampant black abortion rate and you'd think it was a planned genocide. Sadly you hear nothing about that!
Granted there have been a few isolated incidents where the police have reacted inappropriately. They have a tough job to do and nobody is perfect. We have bad judges, bad politicians, corruption at every level of government, but that's not based on racism.
There is a reason more blacks are in prison, statistically they commit more crime. And when a police officer pulls you over for whatever reason, you cooperate and don't act hostile!
I'am confident that the vast majority of black people in these inner cities want the police to be there! Unfortunately more black people will fall victim to black on black homicide if the police are afraid to go into these communities because they are targets of assassination!
You can thank people like Obama, Hillary, Jesse Jerkson and that jackass Al "not so" Sharpton for stirring the pot and inciting the violence! The racism and division they promote is blatant. This is not the way MLK would have reacted! When you have organized protesters shouting "Pigs in a blanket, fry'em like bacon" and "What do we want? Dead cops now" that is not free speech in my not so humble opinion and it needs to be stopped!-Foldus,
