I completely agree with what everyone just said. I do believe the black community commits a higher proportion of violent crimes. I do believe more police are sent those areas. I also agree that BLM needs to shift its focus from the police to look at their own communities.
I really the believe the root of the problem stems from black culture, not skin color. Too many single mothers making minimum wage raising children withouy fathers in their lives. The kids of no hope, no goals, no ambition. So they live the street life leading to drugs and crime. The solution must come from within.
But having said that, I can also say with certainty that black men are treated differently overall then white men. There is probably a reason for that. Police probably feel more threatened by black men based on experience. I get it.
But I also believe the lack of training and the overall view of blacks need to change along side the black community. This is a complex problem. And I've seen enough videos of police using unnecessary force on mostly black men, so there is a problem. Cops are much quicker to draw and use a weapon when confronting a black man. And maybe that is justified. But watching cops shooting unarmed men in the back when they are running away is absolutely ridiculous. Or cops unloading on a teenager with a knife that is 100 feet away is ridiculous.
Change needs to come from everywhere. I'm not the type to complain about this or that, I like to find solutions. How do we fix the problem. And if you discount that millions of blacks feel mistreated is being part of the problem, not the solution. Its the same mindset Conservatives had in the 60s looking at the black protests. Its the same mindset as the Southerners had 100 years earlier during the Civil War.
The black communities and culture has their own issues they need to address. Maybe BLM is not the best method, but without a leader to step up and say, yes ther is a problem with police, but that problem us made worse by the behavior of our young black men in our own communities. And for some reason, nobody is the black community is willing to step up.
