What went wrong with generation snowflake

Background - Generation Snowflake, is a neologistic term used to characterize the young adults of the 2010s.

I'm at lost with my 20 year niece at the moment. She's a lovely, kind and shy young woman but all of sudden we seem worlds apart.

I've seen my niece every weekend since the day she was born. I've been there thru every up and down, as an aunty she's trusted me with information she wouldn't want to share with her parents. I am/was proud of person she had grown into.

But recently she's had her nipple pierced (not my taste and a surprise action from her), had her lips filled, starting dancing at a weekends in a nightclub (not a gentlemen's club but really it feels one step away). She doesn't need the money, and has a day job.

I've tired talking to her, but it's like speaking a different language. All I hear is everyone does it. The other day she said how much she wanted to be a wag (wife or girlfriend of a footballer) and that they come into the club! And all her friends feel the same.

Where has the ambition of young women gone? I honestly don't know how to relate to this. I'm so worried about her.

Sad.... seeing and hearing the same from many friends on Facebook. It's the culture in moral decline, and it's social engineering pushed by Hollyweird, the pubic screwls and liberal college professors.

Not much you can do to change her mind about lifestyle choices. Let her fail.... sometimes people have to hit bottom before they can look up!

I think the debate here comes back to the fact that everyone has their own journey in life. You can talk or yell at someone till you're blue in the face but until they experience life for themselves your words will fall on deaf ears.

Perhaps your perspective on the situation is wrong? She's out there making money being independent and knows what she wants in life. If that's different than what you want why should it be wrong? One person likes apple pie while another likes pumpkin and they both hate the other. Is either of them wrong? No. They just prefer different tastes.

Love her for who she is and support her the best you can.

I do love her, no matter what.

What gets me is, she feels all that matters in her is her appearance.

She's more than what she looks like but she doesn't see it.

I've met good amount of girls that want to find a rich guy to take care of them. Thats what your niece wants, a wag, or whatever name, but guy with money probably looks too, and the status, things to be a part of like the culture and lifestyle.

And thats why ugly women made up feminism, because the cute pretty chicks get the rich handsome men and its not fair, to the less cute and pretty women.

I suppose it is a natural conclusion to make, that appearance and superficial value decides one's worth, when being brought up with today's materialistic pop-culture. I'm not saying you and the rest of the her family has done a bad job at raising her, but kids perceive what matters and is valued in the outside world, through tabloids, television and pop-cultural icons, and adapt accordingly. Her generation has grown into adulthood with people like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus, and the likes, being held up as the pinnacle of modern day women. The idols to strife for. With that in mind, I don't think her attitude is much of a surprise.

Does she have any hobbies or interests that doesn't involve her looks or her sexual value? I believe that is vital in building a good foundation of personal development and self-esteem. I also think that connecting with nature can be a powerful tool for introspection, devoid of the lenses that society impel upon us.

Actually, it was made up because half of the population was not in the work force, to profit corporations, and to break up traditional family structures, to the benefit of the state. But that is a different story.

Its female nature to find the guy swinging the biggest dick and be his girl. Men chase women, women chase The Man.

Western culture is all but gone, there is noone raising their children or teaching them anything. This means that boys and girls growing up have their lives shaped entirely by their instincts.
In a healthy culture children are raised to know things and to know themselves in a larger way than what they would find out on their own. But there no such thing in this western world of libertarian nonsense.

Women, by nature, are not ambitious or creative compared to men. Its men who create and protect, womens primary roll is to bring life into this world.

So thats what young women today do - trying to find that man. Nothing else matters to them.

They all chase and compete for the same top men, a game which most do not win.
Most will do that until they grow past the age of being a desirable wife.
Then they will live their lives in misery because they are either forced to settle down with undesirable men or live alone, with lots of cats.
