You take a student loan and go to fucking college.

Student loans: the economic equivalent of breaking your legs so you can't kick above your own head. Here's a loan you won't be able to pay off with interest rates that cripple you. Or alternatively the government could provide education free by actually taxing the 1 in 3 companies that pays zero tax, which would allow everyone to get the education they need to contribute to society. But that's socialism, so I guess if you did that, then the next step is Hitler camps and Gulags. Ironically enough, I am studying at University this very topic, but I live in Australia so the government pays for our education and we get to repay it at a more reasonable expectation, fortunately for me.

Also how do you repay a student loan if you're homeless? You need a job to be able to do that. You can't get a job because you don't have the money to provide for the things you need to be able to convince an employer you're worth investing in.

Pick a career that will pay off your student loan. Gender studies really isn't going to load up the bank account.

My daughter has a male friend 19 years old. Going to college for a career in the oil and gas industry. Young man is making some good money because he works offshore also. Best part about it is this. The operating company he is working for is paying for his degree. The young man shows a positive go get 'em attitude. He is getting experience and education. Win win in my book if you ask me.

This current system in reality has to fall and be completely destroyed.. Life must go back to a simpler time with minimal taxation on the individual and less governance of people.. This would mean smaller areas or territories looking after themselves... This is where generation "Snowflake" is going to fall.. This scenario will separate the wolves and the sheep.. It's only the modern system keeping Snowflakes afloat.. Be it in the parents basement, etc.. They are still able to exist.. What would happen would force them into the world to fend..

That's an interesting thought. I tend to disagree and have a more Marxist perspective. Mostly because it is the lack of regulation that got us here is the first place. If you fail to legislate in the correct ways, these patterns tend to repeat and/or worsen, and in certain scenarios the legislation itself becomes the aberration. What Americans need, in my opinion, is a new FDR. And you will probably get it after the American economy collapses (a prediction of mine), but in the meantime you have to deal with a President who says he supports the working class while simultaneously legislating their doom.

To keep this relevant to the topic at hand - my perspective is that these behaviours your Niece is exhibiting Tara, are an extension of this system we are talking about. Insecurity in her own future and the future of her nation and the world could make an individual do some silly things.

Growing up in the 60's and 70's I can remember the days when the parents and adults were all complaining about what the hell is wrong with all of these hippies. My generation was the same, what the hell is wrong with them. I went on to raising children myself and yes, I wondered what the hell is wrong with their generation. The fact of the matter is that many of them were raised in a family with some reasonable moral values and they finally grew up to become responsible respectable members of the community. Knowing you I would imagine that the parents of your niece are just as grounded as you are and she has learned the moral values to get her through life. It's good for you to give her a little kick once in a while to remind her of these values, but she is going through a phase right now and she will come out of it fine.

That's an option, but unfortunately one that is very rare and not presented to most people. I have no doubt that this guy is a real go getter.

Also, the science is pretty clear on the oil and gas industry being universally destructive to the planet, so there is that, but I see what you mean. I tried studying science for this exact reason. I hated it.

I agree with that but what I see about the current free enterprise system is; the current system has been allowed to get out of hand and there are too many piggies in the trough.. There is no way that u can or could find a CEO-CAO or politician that would vote in legislation to take pay/penison/tax cuts or work voluntary down to the level that their job is really worth.. There are some that would but like here when voted in, their party dictates how they will vote on legislation etc.. Towing the party line to keep the position.. The first thing they ask for here if not towing the line is a resignation and they go looking for someone that will.. So therefore all I see for the Alternative is it basically has to taken from them..

I also agree with this. I swing between being like "no we just need to work to change the current system without violence" and "burn everything, eat the super wealthy, revolution is at hand brothers".

Why would you be homeless? A single young person needs very little and it's not hard to find a job that pays cash. I'm not talking career, just a job or two. In my younger days I always had roommates, I didn't live in great places. I didn't need to. I just needed a bed and shelter. The homeless for the most part are mentally ill, it's a myth that healthy normal people are homeless. If you got a college degree and are now homeless you have real mental problems and you would never make it through college in that state of mind. You are just making crap up.

Aw mate, you're totally right. Being homeless is a choice unless you're mentally ill, in which case you totally deserve it. Sometimes I see homeless people get offered jobs, and then they decline. On top of that, being homeless is actually fun. You get to live so comfortably. Why aren't we all homeless? IT'S GREAT. Everyone loves you. You get to eat whatever you want whenever you want. Being homeless is actually just like being a king. You get sex whenever you want it, everyone respects you, you become enlightened and on top of that, free cake. You can see on a homeless persons face when they collect the dignity to ask a stranger for the smallest amount of money that they are just manipulating you because once they get that nickel, they own you so hard. And don't get me started on how crazy they all are. It's not like you can fall into homelessness through losing a job, missing a rent payment. or just simply being a veteran who gets fuck all and can't maintain a job because sometimes when someone grabs your wrist you think they're trying to kill you. You're right. Burn them all. I have no empathy for mental problems. That only happens to almost everyone at some stage in their lives.

Part of the reason I hated taking political science as part of the bullshit gen ed. courses. Total waste of my money when my degree has nothing to do with political science.
All colleges could graduate someone with a bachelor's in 2-3 years but they gotta suck as much money out of you as possible.
