Weird how you say "just facts" with no sources to prove that, and you didn't answer the question on how to deal with the animals we have now with a different world of "no meat". Those animals would die off, so that means what's the difference between eating them and watching them die? If we went to a "no meat" world then you still have to take care of those animals, after all vegans care about the animals, no? We would still need to take care of them, meaning nothing changes, but increasing the land we need to then take care of people and animals at the same time. Then by that happening we would need to knock down more forests to make that idea sustainable by taking care of the animals we created in addition to the increase in human consumption.Originally posted by Florida636 View PostNegative. To produce 1lb of beef it takes 2400 gallons of water, to produce a pound of wheat uses under 150 gallons of water. And 1lb of wheat can feed way more people then 1lb of beef can.
And the amount of land it takes to produce meat is much much larger than the amount to grow plants, and the yield is much less. If the whole world were to stop eating meat we would be able to feed everyone on the planet x2. Just facts. And free range grass fed animal agriculture is even more unsustainable than regular animal agriculture where the animals are locked in cages. Something like 70-80% of Amazon rainforest is cut down for animal agriculture, not for plants. Look up how much land/water it takes to feed a vegan for a year vs how much it takes to feed a beef eater
With that if the animals are left alone they may ruin certain ecosystems by being let loose and overpopulation could be an issue and with so few predators for them they could increase in population further. In the end we'd have to put some down, like we do deer, in which that case why not eat the meat from hunting? If you're not eating it you're letting it go to waste and that, to me, is terrible to waste what a life has given you. Then people will want to eat that meat again and the whole cycle repeats.
Then there's the loss of byproducts from animals you use in various other ways that people don't think of. Many vegans don't think about how they are "killing" animals in other ways.Last edited by Dontrike; 04-17-2018, 06:06 AM.

I have found vegans can tend to tell half the story or distort or even shock tell lies much the same as other people really . So we are back to the same old what is the source how much cred does it have how much science how much blind assertion yada yada . Quite frankly i can't be bothered doing a ton of research and just take it all with a lot of salt .
The preachy tone they tend to use is a major turn off though .

Hi Tara just thought I would chuck these at you, mind you with this first one, could be a bit hard to follow, as most fruits are picked, seems a bit crazy to me
Some fruitarians will eat only what falls (or would fall) naturally from a plant: that is, foods that can be harvested without killing or harming the plant. These foods consist primarily of culinary fruits, nuts, and seeds. According to author Adam Gollner, some fruitarians eat only fallen fruit.
Lacto-vegetarians who eat plant foods plus dairy products. Lacto-ovo vegetarians who consume both dairy products and eggs. Vegans who avoid all animal products — no dairy, no eggs — and eat only vegetables, fruits, and grains.
Do you think Tara perhaps this would be a better way to go?

Going this way your get more to pick from and more proteins that are a must to life.

There are heaps of ways to get protein without meat. You have to be more conscious of what you eat, sure, and pay more attention to it, but it's totally healthy. Lentils, beans, nuts, combinations of different vegetables are totally healthy ways to get protein.
NOWHARD - many vegans still eat eggs, but only eggs where they know where the eggs came from (aka not factory farmed where the cruelty happens but from their own chickens). I guess you can call that not vegan by technicality, but it really is only a technicality.
There is plenty of evidence proving how the meat industry contributes to global warming to an extraordinary degree, if you don't want to research it, that's fine, but it is the very literal definition of ignorance. Not an insult, just a fact. I'm positive plenty of people on here don't believe in climate change, if that's the case, the information is there, you don't have to look for it or believe it, but again, literal definition of ignorance, not an insult, just a fact. I'm not willing to spend the energy debating it, if people want to be ignorant, that's a choice available to you for sure. I spent a long time not willing to be vegetarian because my brother was so preachy about it so I also don't want to be that guy, it doesn't help.
Edit: My point is merely that I don't want the planet to turn into an unlivable husk, and would like to leave a planet that is sustainable for future generations. I think veganism is a good way of moving towards avoiding this, and that currently human civilisation is headed for complete environmental destruction.Last edited by Injoker; 04-17-2018, 09:41 AM.Starting - Goal

So veganism, which deviates from nature, is a good thing but burning fossil fuel, which deviates from nature, is a bad thing. Oh I get it now.The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!
