The cotton layer is at the very top of the dome where the valve hole enters. This is where I get my blisters. The cotton ball stopped this. Friction can not be generated in this plain of motion as the interface is being separated by the force of the weights. If you read Donjelqer78's log he mentions micropore tape without any improvements, actually it made things slightly worse for him. I would argue that friction coefficient generated between the micropore tape and polished acrylic is .1 at best. I think the Nexcare tape is fine. The majority of the resistance force is produced by the vacuum. I believe that short sets of 60min max at higher weights prevent blisters.
