  • How much water should you drink while consuming protein shakes? (whey concentrate)

Title says it all. I drink around 2 shakes a day ..

How many "water" should I drink? Sorry but the title really doesn't say it all. Do you mean glasses of water or water with the protein shake. I am totally confused.

huh? How much water SHOULD you drink WHILE consuming protein shakes ..

Basically I mean: how much water a day should I drink to make sure I'm getting enough water for digesting the protein shakes .. Protein shakes can be stressful for the liver and stomach I guess, so how much water a shake or how much water a day should you consume to use protein shakes safely ..

Everyone is different, but the urine output should be clear color.

Protein supplements have worked for all... ALL the TOP BB'rs, Fitness and Professional Athletes.

The amount of water I drink is what my body tells me to. I do not force down additional amounts of water.

Yeah ofcourse protein shakes work .. way convenient, easier to digest than whole food, cheaper etc ...

I know real food is better but it's almost impossible to get all your macro's and kcal from real food alone .. Especially protein .. I'm not gonna eat chicken or poultry every meal..

Dude. No top bodybuilder uses protein shakes. I happen to have placed 3rd at nationals. thats 1 place away from IFBB pro. I know many IFBB pro athletes.. Noone uses them. We are all sponsored and paid to make people like you think we use them so you will buy them.

I try to honestly drink as much as I can.

I usually drink 3 litres of water a day. Honestly I take a water bottle every where I go.

I have heard about recommendations of 8-10 glasses of water a day.

If I am training hard (doing a jog during the day and weights workout in the evening), while consuming 1-2 shakes, I would typically drink between 3-4 litres of water. You will know by how thirsty you are and try to ensure your urine is always a light colour.

Totally clear is not ideal. Here is the link to webmd.

I mean that is in some sense true since real food will be always better than shakes.

                          Protein shakes are meal replacements.

Most people use shakes since they are convinient.

Yeah ofcourse, I didn't say protein shakes are the end all be all .. But I talk about my own experience. I didn't change a thing about my diet because I still live at home .. I've been working out since I was 16 but never really got huge/very muscular .. I have wide shoulders/wide back etc .. But arms etc was all lacking .. Since I just added 2 shakes a day .. I can see a noticeble difference ..

I follow youtube channels. All these guys (I follow a lot of guys: POG, hodgetwins, brandon carter, Lee labrada, etc etc) do recommend a protein shake ..

I never said it's necessary, but it's way more convenient than real food because of the preparation time, money, amount of proteins, etc.

+ pro-bodybuilders are just that => pro-bodybuilders .. they get their meals cooked everyday and live the perfect life for muscle building .. Me as an amateur and recreational sporter I just consume it so I atleast see something off the hard work I put in 4 times a week.

So creatine is also a bunch of bullshit then? That's why almost every pro-athlete takes it ..

It's easy not to take protein shakes when almost every pro bodybuilder (heck, all of em) use steroids .. I can eat nothing and still grow muscle while on steroids .. Now I don't know if that guy uses steroids, I don't care .. But it's a fact that you need to use em to atleast have a shot for the win in a professional bodybuilding competition (and yeah, I know there are also drug free bodybuilding competitions).

Just saying I'm getting scammed, because some companies do offer a powder that doesn't do shit .. Is just naive.

I literally waited for 2 years to use protein shakes just to see if I can find some negative effects of it .. All I could find is: hard to digest because of lactose, can be stressful on the liver when not drinking enough water, isn't a meal replacement ..

Sure people get scammed .. I think about BCAA's for example.

But to just say protein shakes are full of shit from some guy who is supposed to be a national bodybuilding champion. I don't buy it.

And don't start to give me that "but hodgetwins, etc get payed to tell you that" ... So every guy with a nice physique gets payed to advertise on protein shakes then?

I know it's not a wonder product that will get you ripped in 2 weeks.
