    http://www.amazon.com/ANABOLICS-10th.../dp/0982828012

Read this book then come talk to me about Anabolics and other Hormones. And i'll supply you with more Info.. Your friend shouldnt take anything without reading this book.

I dont have any references for why Real food is better than Shakes..
Go look it up for your self guys. Start powerlifing and get to an Elite level by drinking shakes. It wont happen.

You wont put on One pound of lean mass by eating protein shakes... Take it or leave it.

Make sure to get plenty of water from fruits and vegetables. Your body absorbs it better than if you just chug water on an empty stomach.

I drink 2-3.5 liters a day when I'm doing 0-2 hours of physical activity. The more bulky food you eat, the more water you need for digestion. I also drink roughly a liter of beer a day but I don't think that hydrates me

As for protein, I find it easy to get plenty though food. There's more than just chicken... However, I'm not trying to blimp up to the point where I can't wipe my own ass.

It all gets broken down into categories. Not something you really read all the way through.

In my personal opinion the best use for protein shakes is for cutting. If you eat well and train correctly you will gain. Protien drinks have their place but they are a SUPPLEMENT to food. to many do this back wards.

As far as water goes, I dont care if your drinking protein or not, drink a lot of water at all times.
I am not a world class lifter but at 5'8" I was getting a bench of 385( judged) and 405 but not in a competition with a dead of 605 and a squat at over 550. At that point I dont even think I was using any protein supplements.

Real food is always the best bet. I can honestly say that when I dropped the shakes and started counting grams of real protein things picked up well for me, of course that was in my late 30s and early 40s. A few catastrophic falls and things going pop put an end to my heavier days.
Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before
