And which of those pills are you not taking that you need be taking? Because this is the most insane conspiracy theory rant I have ever seen.

            Most likely.

How can that even be construed as a conspiracy theory, or even a rant for that matter?

LMAO. Have you not seen the pharmaceutical ads in the US? The list of side effects for meds big pharma companies are pushing is every bit as long as the list I posted AS A JOKE making fun of them.
To answer your question, If a Dr wants to prescribe a medicine to me, I take the piece of paper the prescription is written on and go research more homeopathic means of addressing the issue. Most pharmaceuticals are derived from plant substances. But, pharmacy companies can't patent things that occur naturally in the environment so they take the plant substance, modify it just enough that it no longer is chemically identical to it's naturally occurring derivative and then they can get a patent. I'm sorry if you can't understand how the process works and I'm not saying this is the case for all medicines. But it is for a great many and yes, I believe that most people to not need a large percentage of the drugs they are prescribed and that there are better and more healthy ways of curing many of the illnesses in our society. But taking that little pill with all it's possible side effects is so much easier isn't it?

Because there is no evil entity that controls all of medicine like "Big Pharma." That's just the over embellished enemy conspiracy theorist against medicine have created to feel like they have something to fighting against. The real power of the pharmaceutical companies is supply and demand, which is why there is plenty of competition out there, and there are thousands of drug companies all competing with one another (which is why you have different name brand and generic options out there.)

Furthermore, there is no cure-all in Western medicine. Because we have these things called viruses that mutate, people with different immune systems and body chemistry that react differently to different drugs, and different tolerances to drugs. There cannot and will not be any drug that cures everything wrong with you, nor will there every be any legitimately pharmaceutical company making these claims.

Yes, the big scary doctors are out to get you and you can cure your craziness with some essential oils mixed with spring water, or smoke a bowl of marijuana while watching Dr. Oz and pretend you know more about medicine than any doctor would learn from twelve years of medical school and 20+ years of practice.

TGD, you should know better by now than to start throwing personal insults around.

Pharma companies are driven by profit and greed. In my opinion, that is not the way healthcare should be provided.

I was amazed when I lived in the States for a short while how commercialised medicine was. Virtually every other advert on the TV was selling pills and potions with a big disclaimer at the end to cover their arses.

No wonder you're all nuts over there!
We still do. A thirty second TV ad will spend about ten seconds on what the so said drug will do. Then the other twenty on side effects.

A doctor told me that. That is for the Pharma companies to CYA (cover your ass).

If there was nonconspiracy and supply and demand ruled the day then the monopoly for 5 years wouldn't exist.

There is a good portion of the male community that would be a bunch of limp dicked has beens if it wasn't for Big Pharmacy. I respect them for that, I also understand the profit motive, I own a business after all. The thing that irks me is the incredible mark ups they place on medications that are not covered by insurance. Almost to the point of being ridiculous. Costs me over $10 a day to take a daily Cialis - $300+ dollars a month. There is no formula on earth that can justify those prices. If they lowered them even by half, so many more could be able to afford and their profits would be even greater.

If you are female, your birth control should be free AND covered by insurance. If you are male, it is a "lifestyle" drug and you pay through the nose for it. Prior to Obamacare, these drugs were at least partially covered by insurance. Since obamacare, it has been full out of pocket. I justify it by telling my wife she is an expensive date, but worth it.
