How many men would it take to cover a 2000 mile border 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year? What's the problem with a wall? My dad lives in a gated community and as he puts it, it keeps the riff raff out. So he can live there behind the wall, metal gate and security cameras and that's okay but doing the same thing to protect our homes as Americans somehow is wrong? I don't get it?

Therein lies the problem; I don't care what anybody says the middle class will end up paying. Funny the offer was made for free healthcare for illegals but up until recently if an American didn't have healthcare he was fined.Originally posted by not2big View PostI happen to like some of Bernie’s ideas and how they could improve the lives of the disadvantages, but, unfortunately, they are impractical and burden the middle class. I happen to suffer with a chronic life threatening disease (diabetes) which, under Trump’s Plan, would allow insurance companies to deny me coverage. Without insurance, my annual medical costs would be in excess of $20,000. Had I lost my job, I would be unable to afford my medication which would significantly increase my risk of dying early.Originally posted by Rok View PostObama screwed up healthcare so bad no one will be able to fix it.

Okay let's do the next one, the one I think will be the nominee. Let's look at Kamala Harris. Why will she get the nod?
She has got just what the media wants; she's attractive, she's a woman and she's black or mostly black. That's a media darling. While the MSM loves to talk about Trump cheating on his wife ( gee they never said much about Bill Clinton) well here's a girl who slept her way to the top, especially with married men. Hey that's okay because she has what the media wants.
In her political career there is nothing outstanding about her. Nothing to note as AG in California or even as a Senator but that doesn't matter. She will be the media darling and will do no wrong.
You may have seen her in the debates going after Joe Biden on busing and saying she was a little girl back then that was affected. Of course that was a lie but only few media outlets reported it. When she was confronted with her own record she just stood there like a deer in the headlights. She does love to say "We should have a discussion" on just about any subject she's asked about because it gets her out of answering the question. She does go along with getting rid of plastic straws and going back to paper. Isn't paper made from trees and aren't trees good for the environment?
Okay you heard it here first that she gets the nod. Anyone want to tell me something noteworthy about her?The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

I truly hope you read this post. Sorry it is long.Originally posted by not2big View PostI happen to suffer with a chronic life threatening disease (diabetes) which, under Trump’s Plan, would allow insurance companies to deny me coverage. And you think Obama’s Plan is screwed up?
Are you on Obamacare? Answer honestly. I am. Most of the Obamacare supporters are NOT on Obamacare. They don't buy their insurance through the Obamacare exchange, they have employer provided insurance or medicare.
As an independent contractor, I bought my own insurance for twenty years before Obamacare. We had high premiums and high deductibles, there were about 5 different companies at ehealthinsurance.com to choose from. We were excited with the possibility of Obamacare. Then it came.
We were notified that they were canceling our insurance, that we had for a decade. Premiums skyrocketed from 350 a month to 1500 a month. The deductible went from 2500 to 5500.
The online exchange process was horrible. I must have entered information for my family of 6 over a dozen times. I probably spent an entire weekend fighting that thing. It kept crashing and losing everything.
Finally after we paid the extra 1200 dollars a month we went to our doctor to find out she wouldn't take it. There was no search mechanism for doctors that first year. In fact it took 2 weeks to find a doctor we liked that would take it. The wellness visit were free however for the first time. My wife had to find a new OBGYN, she was mortified.
Then we had the standard childhood injury, a broken arm. I was smart this time and checked to find which hospitals were on the network, the nearest was 30 mins away, so we did the drive. Guess how much Obamacare paid for my kids broken arm? 0$. Didn't meet the 5500 deductible.
We paid an additional $13,800 in premiums that year for less insurance, and the loss of our doctors and a network with a further away hospital. We did save about $500 dollars in wellness visits though.
At the end of the year we received notice that they were canceling our insurance. The provider was leaving the market. So I had to shop AGAIN and enroll again. A nice feature allowed me to bring forward the information from the previous year so I didn't have to retype everything. Premiums went up to 1600/month. Not bad.
Being wise, we check about our doctor. Sure enough, last year's doctor isn't on the new insurance. Sooo we search for a doctor again.
When we take our kids in for the wellness checkup some needed more shots, which are covered. This is nice since they sometimes ran $150. My wife goes to check out and they tell her 2 of our 4 children are not insured. WTF? Embarrassed she paid for the visits and the shots out of pocket and came home crying.
It took months to figure out what happened, but apparently the AUTOMATIC transfer of information from year to year screwed up the social security numbers of my children so that the numbers were invalid. NEVER HAD ANYONE IN MY FAMILY GONE UNINSURED FOR A DAY, until Obamacare. Now I find out 2 of my children had been uninsured for 5 months.
Now here's the trick. You can't buy insurance in May without meeting a list of criteria (loss of job etc), which this event didn't meet. It took months of wrangling with healthcare.gov to get them to agree to insure my children.
Before you couldn't get insurance when you were sick. Now you can't get insurance BECAUSE IT IS JUNE.
My accountant informed me I needed to pay a tax penalty because my children were uninsured part of the year.
At the end of the year, we received notice they were canceling our insurance and I would need to go through the process again.
Since 2014 we have had our insurance canceled 4 times. There is now only one insurance provider left in our state. The premiums are ~2k.
Obamacare was not necessary in order to cover the uninsured. There were about 20 different ways to do that. I am emphatically with those who post that it fucked things up, because things are IMMENSELY WORSE.
Sorry for the rant and rudeness, but this one hits close to home. It has cost me about 70k over the past 5 years, and more importantly hours of my wife crying and the shock of my children being uninsured.
If you're an Obamacare supporter and on Obamacare, fine, share your happy story, it will be the first I've heard. If not, with all due respect, please STFU.Last edited by bigbob23; 09-07-2019, 04:09 PM.

I agree that Harris is the one to beat. She did very well in the debates so far and is playing the politics game wisely. She is also the one that I think has the best chance to beat Trump. In fact I'd say some of the other candidates are in the race to run interference for her...keeping the media's eyes trained on anyone but her...focusing the spotlight elsewhere until closer to nomination.Originally posted by CUSP82 View PostOkay let's do the next one, the one I think will be the nominee. Personally, not a big fan of Ms Harris, but to summarize some of her actions: Over the course of her nearly two terms as District Attorney, Kamala won a $25-billion settlement for California homeowners hit by the foreclosure crisis, defended California’s landmark climate change law, protected the Affordable Care Act, helped win marriage equality for all Californians, and prosecuted transnational gangs that trafficked in guns, drugs, and human beings.
In the United States Senate, since taking office, she has introduced and cosponsored legislation to raise wages for working people, reform the broken criminal justice system, make healthcare a right for all Americans, addressed the epidemic of substance abuse, supports veterans and military families, and promoted the expansion of access to childcare for working parents.Last edited by not2big; 09-07-2019, 04:40 PM.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

Let's see; Trump passed criminal justice reform, gave the VA the power it needs to get better with the VA accountability act, don't forget the VA choice act, gave a great economy where wages are rising at 3.2% annually, is spending millions on the opiod problem and if Congress will help we'll get insurance people can afford.

I thought this was a thread to discuss the democratic candidates. If you want to get into a discussion on Trumpp’s accomplishments, I believe there is already a thread for that. If you want to get into Trump’s failures and short comings, I can do that here too.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

There are a few favorable Democrats running, but I believe Trump will win because most of the working class and moderates will vote for him. Everytime the media says that a president isn't very popular by the people, they tend to win.Originally posted by not2big View Post“Let's see; Trump passed criminal justice reform, gave the VA the power it needs to get better with the VA accountability act, don't forget the VA choice act, gave a great economy where wages are rising at 3.2% annually, is spending millions on the opiod problem and if Congress will help we'll get insurance people can afford.”

People are afraid to speak up because they feel they will be targeted. Which is true, they will be targeted by extremists.
