ONLY a nickel??? C'mon man you got to think bigger! Even bigger than all the ex's .

    • I just love it when they ask me to pull forward and park to wait on my order at a fast food joint and after waiting 10 minute for my food, they bring it to me and IT"S NOT HOT...GRRR. I tell ya, us burritos can't get no respect. If I wasn't in my boxers, I would have gone inside and let 'em have it! LOL

      • I am absolutely sick and tired of this new supervisor. Every time he's on shift he uses me to fill in for a mechanic that's absent. Yeah. I get it. I know every piece of machinery in the plant. Hell I've been in this shop since it was three walls with no roof. But I'm a millwright, a conveyance mechanic. There's only 4 of us total. One for each crew and we are 3 months behind schedule on building the new magnetic transfers.

This evening when he came back into the fab shop to tell me to go fill in for the backend mechanic I asked him to put that in writing cause last time he told me to do something like that I got my ass chewed by the superintendent. This asshole wrote me up. Gonna have to have a talk with HR Monday morning I think.

Dang man that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully things can be resolved sensibly with HR.

          • We will see. Even if it isn't. I only have to deal with this place eight or ten more months then I'm gonna try to partially retire.

                No.

I'm working on a couple components that I'm trying to patent and sell to companies like this one. Once that's done what with my VA rating my firewood business, returns on investments and once my last rental property is paid for I should be doing well enough that I don't have to work for someone else anymore.

No Don't retire, I did and early, I do wish I had kept working in some form even if its just doing my own thing, to do that in Greece is a bit hard, they don't like outsiders opening a business far different from the UK.

In Greece they rely on a lot of family help? yer I know sounds kind of crazy.

But just keep a job going, its so good for your body and mind.

Oh I don't think I'll ever be able to completely stop working. But am not going to spend the next 20 years working for someone else. Hell managing my rental properties in itself is a full time job

In The UK worked with a sparks who owned property's in Wales yes he was a Welshman, but his aim was for 10 houses, he said when you get to 10 your self serf-sufficient, it was him who but I would not stop the work he was doing even after retirement date he would carry on, and I now know what he meant by that, I have always kept busy as I can, if not your go nuts.

All the old guys here in Greece sit in the cafes all day some just sitting some talking its there way of life, they think I'm mad as I always have something to do, me I would sooner be sunbathing which the Greeks don't do in fact they hide form the sun?

Even if I suddenly won the power ball or something I don't think I'd just sit around all day. But ya kinda have to play to win.

I've got 5 different properties that I rent out. If I wanted to live a little more meagerly We could get by only on those. But with the potential for sending my son's to college and continuing to live the lifestyle we live I figure we need to bring in a minimum of 95k a year. With the properties I already own once this last one is paid off. The wood business and investment return I'll be well over that once these projects are complete and I sell the rights.

See in a factory like the one I work in now each quarter inch vacuum line costs the company about 70k a year in electricity. Each of their coating machines has one line running to it and there is 20 machines in this one factory. One of the components I'm developing will completely remove the need to run a vacuum line to these machines. If I can get it to work as reliably as vacuum that is.

                            • See T 39 you need those other 5 to be free of working for some one else, then you can do your own work of developing for other people, if that is your bent.

                              • Meh. I'm done buying property. Takes too long to see a return on what I put in. The only reason I'm keeping the ones I have is cause except for the one they're all paid for. As tenants move out I'll start selling them and put that money into other investments.

If push came to shove my wife's salary could be counted into our living funds. But I'd rather keep it so its her play money.
