I could never kick Spanky, that just sounds wrong and hes way to nice. I think that this thread is actually pretty damn awsome. Many great points being brought up and it just goes to show that there are so many things that people have different veiws on. When I was younger I dont think I would have liked a girl who didnt drink but now if I was single I would look for that very same person.
I dont mind if people drink so long as they are in control of the drink and not the other way around. I will have the odd drink here and there but it is not very often. I decided long ago that I am not a prize when I am drunk. I never started trouble but I may have been the life of the party on several occasions. Now I will get you home safely!

I agree when I was young if you didn't drink or smoke pot forget it lol
All that changes as you mature get married have kids work etc
At my age the guys ride motorcycles and drink. Hey they deserve their freedom. I chose not to be on the back of their bike or be around drunk people.
Again preference.
I enjoy the drinkers in my group. I enjoy drinking. All about moderation and control at this stage.
But I do find some connection to excess alone drinkers to other red flags.
Just as many find my energy level, thought process and work situation too much for them.

Today I'll be drinking mohitos with the major BBQ I'm making for the group. Word!

So you guys can see what I'm dealing with here. After hearing all your responses I spoke to my guy friends by phone. Each one of them said "Landi don't date a guy who needs a drink to cut the edge off. If a guy drinks more than four beers in a date run". So you see I can't get a good response from the men in my life because they have different standards for me. These are all guys that drink a good amount. Hilarious!

I don't drink or smoke it just does not interest me at all but when i go out with friends most of them are drinkers but they only drink lightly.I certainly know how to have a good time and enjoy myself its just that i don't need to be drunk to do it if you know what i mean.I would rather do some running or cycling as i love the buzz of feeling fit i am now at 12% body fat down from the usual 14% and it certainly pays off in the bedroom!.

Drinking alone is automatic "Alcoholism" territory, to me.

Really? I'll have a single jack and coke when I'm alone and I stop after that and switch back to water or iced tea.......and that puts me in "alcoholic" territory to you? Wow.......and I should note that I have one maybe every few days....its not a daily thing for me although it can be depending on the various stresses going on at the moment.

Well it all depends on how big that Jack n coke is now, doesnt it. Is it a small beach pail with a fifth and a two litre or a cocktail glass? I do like a beam and coke but I havent had one in about a year. i would have one with ya if we get the chance and that would count as a sppecial occasion so my glass would be large!

Not having read every post in this read but having read enough I'll respond as follows. I do have 1 sole jack and coke maybe one every 2-3 days......and sometimes when the mood strikes I'll have one a day for maybe 2-3 days tops. I am not nor do I consider myself an alcoholic and sometimes yes, I do have my drinks totally sans company and I'm ok with that. From a purely comical point of view, those of you who know me well enough know that between living with my aging mother, dealing with inept ex wife and raising two daughters, you can quite imagine why I consume a reasonable amount of alcohol.

I would not NOT date someone because they had a few on a date. I would, however, stop if I found out that they were an alocoholic or that they were prone to addiction. I don't think someone having a drink or two on a date is at all ground for dismissing them. Now, if you have bad dating/relationship experiences relating to substance abuse and alcoholism then by all means, I should think that someone who was a non drinker would suit you best. However, just because you have 1 or 2 and your alone doesn't make you a bad person or make you the proverbial "alcky".

LOL.....the glass is the size of a regular cocktail glass you'd get one in if you ordered it at a local bar.........I pour two shots of whiskey or burbon in it with the coke and that's it. I stop. I don't even like getting "buzzed" anymore and for the record, I've only been TRULY intoxicated once in my life, did not enjoy the aftermath and vowed never again and have yet to repeat that experience.............and for the most part, I've stayed away from Long Island Iced Teas ever since too....

I'm talking about sitting in a chair alone and downing six beers or more or at one sitting on a regular basis
I always have one to two glasses of wine or mixed drinks on my dates when the dates are at a restaurant. No worried mr big dick. I'm with ya
