I demolded the first pour this morning. The casting is not 100% fully cured yet, it's a tiny bit soft but still fully stable.

Unfortunately, the pour didn't go as expected. I put the reproduction too deep in the mold and the glans were all the way up to the end, leaving no room to thread in an eye bold. Other than that, the cast was actually pretty good - Just a couple of places around an undercut had some air bubbles (this isn't really a functional area anyways, it's just a small visual flaw)

Here are a few pictures of the finished casting. Note that I didn't clean up the flashing yet, so it doesn't present as nice of a finish as it should.

Darkening the room and adding a little backlight makes it easier to see the detail on the inside of the casting. Here you can clearly see the coronal ridge

I raised the reproduction up about half inch from the end in this 2nd pour, which is now curing. I have 2 more pours that I would like to do before I start experimenting with wearing this, so hopefully soon I can at least start reporting on whether or not the actual hanger works as expected. I'd also like to point out materials cost for casting one of these. I've been mixing in batches of 125 grams part A with 37 grams part B. If you brake the the cost of the materials to cast a hanger, it's VERY cheap. I can get 7 castings from the sample kit I bought for $33.42 - that's under $5 per hanger (plus eye bolt and Quick Connect valve) and this isn't even doing it in bulk.

I'll report back tomorrow after demolding the latest pour!

Just demolded the pour from yesterday. As was the case with the last pour, the casting is just a bit soft yet - but the one from yesterday is rock hard now, so this one will get there too over the next day. (Smooth-on makes another product that is clear that has a 90-minute cure time - I'm going to get some soon. They will sell this other product only to businesses - I own a business, am trained in the 24 and 40 hour Hazmat courses and have the appropriate protective equipment, so this shouldn't be a problem)

This casting came out quite well. There are some small air bubbles in the casting, but this is to be expected as we are not pressure casting or anything complicated (see What is pressure casting? | Mold Making and Casting Materials Rubber, Plastic, Lifecasting, and More for a detailed explanation of pressure casting). Flashing was minimal at the base, and the depth of the inner chamber came out just right this time. Later I'm going to drill the mounting hole for the eye bolt and quick connect valve, and polish the casting to a shine. I should be able to hang with this one tomorrow after it is fully hardened!

I'm going to mix some more alginate later and make a mold nearly flaccid and cast a hanger this way as well to see if there is an advantage.

        Pictures from today's progress:

One question I've had all along is wherever you attach the vacuum valve, how are you going to prevent that spot on your glans from blistering? Because there isn't air space between your glans and the inside of the clear casting, won't the suction cause a blister at that spot? (the suction would be greatest at the air hole and suck up your glans skin)

I've been thinking of inserting OOMOO 30 rubber into one side of the LG Hanger cap with the vacuum valve at the bottom, then inserting a soft mesh material (like a soft scrubby pad) that will dissipate the air flow around the area (wider area not concentrated directly at the vacuum hole).

This would require that i wear the cap the same top and bottom direction each time I wear it.

I'm still about a week away from trying this out as my 3/8" blister from a week ago is half way through healing.

I don't believe blistering will be an issue - I still plan on wearing a wrap (mainly to let vacuum permeate through the entire chamber), but I've had the same thought of having something extra-spongy right at the site of the vacuum port. Either way, the vacuum at the port should be no greater than the vacuum anywhere else in the chamber.

Did some light machine work on the dome. I used a 5/32" drill bit along with a 10-24 tap for the eye bolt, and a 5/16" drill bit along with a 3/8" - 24 tap for the quick connect valve. Everything worked great and passed the vacuum test with flying colors. There was no drop at all in 5 minutes @ 5" hg, using a flat side of the mold for the hanger to seal to.

The only thing I kind of messed up on is that I put the quick connect valve and the eye bolt a little closer together than I wanted, but it's not a big deal at all as they both still function as they should. I'll be hanging with this tonight!!!

Don- Because you cast the mold exactly to your glans size, where's the room for an extra spongy separator and room to wrap? I'm thinking that perhaps if you had cast at super clamp size, you might have room, otherwise it could be a tight fit. Best of luck and appreciate you trying this out.

For the spongy thing, I've looked at the following options; a soft kitchen scrubby pad (cut in a 1" circle), and some nylon helm padding you'd get at a fabric store, or some 1/4" thick soft nylon padding used as furniture padding. Each of these provide the rigidity of not falling apart or getting sucked into the hole, soft enough to press up against the glans and dissipate air across a wider array.

A tight fit is exactly what I want - the friction component of this style hanger is way more important than the vacuum IMO. The glans will deform to accommodate a separator if needed. If I do try a separator, it'll just be some sports wrap folded over a couple of times into a square - nothing fancy would be needed as the only purpose would be to ensure the glans don't block the vacuum port. I already have over 100 hours with the LG and a lot of these decisions are based on what I learned during that time. Aside from the friction fit and the vacuum, this version will also offer a positive-locking fit behind the coronal ridge which I believe will help handle higher weight without the penis wanting to pull back and cause blisters. I'll be better able to answer these questions after I actually hang with it tonight though. My initial thought is that I may need to cast a hanger in a more flaccid state to effectively offer the best friction possible.

                    I'll update later

I touched on the reason for wanting to cast this hanger, but wanted to illustrate it better now that I have some pictures that can better show the problem I was having.

I made a dotted red line over an image of the cast hanger. The dotted red line represents the internal contour of the LG hanger. Notice where the arrows point there is a large difference between the actual contour of my glans and the inner contour of the LG hanger. This is the exact area I kept getting blisters (I bet I've had about 10 blisters or more over the 100 hours with the LG). My feeling is that by matching the contour of my glans, no part of the glans will be able to expand beyond the normal boundaries like they do with the LG (the areas pointed to by the arrows specifically). Again, not trying to knock the LG or the creators. I find the LG very comfortable and the craftmanship is top notch - but the point remains that the interior contour does not match the contour of my glans and this is what I believe is primarily responsible for the blistering, as they always appeared in this spot.

Ok, I got to try hanging with the hanger. As I thought, I'm going to have to do a cast against my flaccid size. Having it cast against my erect size was simply too large to get a good friction fit. I'll be casting a version at my flaccid size. When looking at the LG, the internal dome diameter is very close to my flaccid diameter, so I think this will be a better fit. I'll update later as I progress with this.

Yes, I agree, and the precise area on the glans I have gotten blisters, the top sides 1/4-1/2" from pee hole.

Just an update. I did some flaccid molds with alginate, cast a couple rubber reproductions and now I have a new hanger poured and curing with a flaccid interior. I should get to try this out tomorrow sometime!
