It's a big myth that the NHS is free because it all gets paid out of general taxation and national insurance that takes an additional 11% from your earnings. My experience of the NHS with Peyronies is that they really just want you to go away and never mention it again, however if you turn up after another couple of years and it's still a problem they'll send you to a urologist who will more than likely suggest an operation.

For the most part the NHS recommends a "do nothing and hope for the best" strategy, based on the premise that nothing works so you may as well just wait and see. With the benefit of hindsight I feel it's not such a terrible idea but only if you take steps like Voodoo and myself to heal naturally through diet and exercise, which neither the NHS nor any private doctor will ever suggest. Lifestyle is not something they even seem willing to consider and I don't know if it's down to some kind of weird political correctness or they are just so blind they can't see the obvious.

On a side note I think Voodoo is right about surgeries, since doctors make money from them and I actually felt my private urologist was angry when he saw I had started to make some progress after initial changes to my diet. A lot of guys go to urologists who perform the most surgeries for Peyronies but in my view that's like seeing the doctors with the highest failure rate.

Hopefully your other thread will be able come up with some more suggestions and useful information.

      • Thanks for the reply! Is there anything for a natural penis curve? And also what about the drug Xioflen (something like that) which was been approved to help with peyronies apparently. I'm guessing i will have to go to some cosmetic surgery place, i found one before which offered surgery for congential penis curve. So did eating more healthly really reduce your penis curve? I don't get how though, i mean doesn't peyronies sometimes heal by itself over time.

        • In my case eating healthily really does seem to have taken me from around 80 degrees down to about 10 since I changed strategy at Christmas. This has come about through a major drop in chronic inflammation and a reduction in scarring that no prescribed medicines even got close to matching. If you have a natural curve though I wonder if this would be as effective and may not help at all but it certainly couldn't hurt. A natural curve is not something I know enough about because my experience only relates to Peyronies.

Xiaflex is specifically for Peyronies and works by employing collaganese that dissolves the collage scarring. Although it's been licensed in the US for the treatment of Peyronies I believe there were very mixed results with trials and from what I read there was a lot of hype considering the huge cost and relatively small improvements. I'm generally wary of injections in that area knowing that many men have developed Peyronies as a direct result of injecting something into the penis.

It's true that Peyronies does occasionally heal itself over time but there appears to be zero research on those who healed naturally to see what they may have in common. My feeling is that just as there was a trigger to start it, something needed to trigger the healing process and I'm inclined to think that is most likely diet. One thing I picked up on from the Peyronies Forum is that most members come from western countries with lots of processed foods, whereas hardly anybody comes from countries with largely natural diets rich in herbs and vegetables.

          • Going from 80 to 10 degrees that is pretty amazing. What exactly is your diet? Because if it is vegetarian i don't really want to try that because i'm going to the gym and protein is key for muscle growth etc.

I was worried apon reading this line ''Very rarely, particularly if the penis is bent downwards, the nerve supply to the head of the penis may be damaged, leading to numbness.''
My penis when becoming erect grow on the main part of the penis and only when i'm at around 50% erection level does my penis head become harder. They were talking about the nesbit operation for bent penises...

It's basically 100% vegetarian with the exception of some grass fed butter and I'm also fine with eggs. I'm not a vegan and I don't even really think of myself as a vegetarian as such but for 6 months I haven't eaten any fish or meat and it appears to have really helped. I also drink a litre or more of mixed fruit/vegetable juice every day.

Do you actually experience numbness and loss of sensation? It sounds more like you have a problem of circulation where blood is struggling to reach the head. This might be caused by scarring from Peyronies interfering with the normal blood flow. There could be other reasons though and you really need to see a doctor who can say whether or not this is Peyronies.

                  • No i don't experience numbness or loss of sensation. It's just when my penis is becoming like bigger really hard the main part of my penis tends to grow and my head only a bit... i mean it's hard to tell. I mean when i'm hard my glands do feel strong. I'm not sure how a normal penis become erect really so i'm not sure...

Obviously I can't tell you anything definitive but that sounds like a small blockage or pressure on the key arteries that is causing difficulty in blood flow. My first symptom of Peyronies was ED, where I was struggling to get an erection for the first time in my life and then not long after it became hard it literally deflated like a balloon right in the middle, while other parts were still hard before it died completely. That only lasted a couple of weeks but it was the first sign of scarring interfering with my erections.

First off, there are more and more people realizing that you can actually be a better weight lifter without meat protein. Check out "No Meat Athlete" as a guide to how to accomplish this. There's also many books he recommends on that site.

Personally I used to eat shit tons of meat. All my life, pretty much every meal the main course was a fat portion of meat. And my problems only ever got worse. I also used to lift weights which compounded my problems over time because of stress to the muscles without a properly balanced and equally intense stretching routine such as daily yoga. (if you're lifting 3 hours a week I truly believe you should be doing 4-5 hours of stretching/yoga per week otherwise you are digging yourself a musculature nightmare which will take a long time to reverse)

After almost a year of being vegetarian (I do eat eggs and occasionally fish) without meat, processed foods, or fried foods (very rarely) I can honestly say this is definitely what humans should be eating. I feel better than ever and have seen improvements on my health in ever area. Not to mention that doing yoga (with lots of focus on the core) and cardio with moderate weight lifting (just started recently) I look more attractive physically than when I was doing DoggCrapp Training for several years. I also FEEL better without back problems and constant muscle tension.

Basically, if you want to take matters into your own hands, you'll begin converting to a healthy vegetarian lifestyle with a yoga/meditation routine. Juicing is about to become a huge part of my life as I'm finally able to afford a good juicer for daily use.

If you want to continue believing that surgery is your only option, then quite honestly I don't have any help to offer you...because it's not true. It sounds like there are several areas you could work on for the next 6 months before understanding what your issues even are. Healthy lifestyle uncovers issues that you don't even realize you're dealing with.

So, my advice, don't procrastinate. Sift through this thread and read the changes I made to my lifestyle then do the research and start trying it out. You will be amazed in 6 months how much different you feel...if you truly commit yourself.

STOP WASTING YOUR RESEARCH EFFORTS ON SURGERY OPTIONS!! You're way too young to resort to that!

                        Cheers,
                        Voodoo

                          • As i'm still at school and living with my parents sticking to a vegetarian diet will be pretty difficult... i mean i'm quite fussy at what i eat anyways. And lets say eating as a vegetarian does work for peyronies i don't see how it will work for a natural curve? I mean mine looks to be caused by my penis growing at different lengths i don't see how eating healthy will change anything. I know it's beneficial to go on a vegetarian diet for health but i don't want to go threw that hassle of which will be complicated to explain to my parents why i'm doing it.
I will stop researching surgery options i know that isn't a very good thing to do but when i see possible solutions it makes me more at ease. I mean peyronies has been said to improve over time and thats been stated on the NHS website i mean how many people have said a vegetarian diet helps? Don't mean to offend you because i know your not making this up but the hassle of having to drastically change my diet of which is hard to compose because i'm fussy as it is will be pretty challenging.

                            • I mean i've started doing squats to improve my pelvic floor but i really don't want to stop weight training as it's boosting my confidence in becoming a more strong person. I'm not sure i have time to do 4-5 hours of yoga especially as my exam period is around now.

                              • I think we are going round in circles here because we won't know what is causing your problem until you get a proper diagnosis. Peyronies would be rare but not impossible in somebody so young, however talk of an operation at this stage is just hugely premature.

On a side note I have no idea what your relationship is like with your parents but I found it much easier to deal with after I told my father about it and I was 44 at the time. Men with Peyronies often suffer from depression, nausea, sweats, headaches, anxiety, backache and other symptoms if you take the medicines so it doesn't take long before people around you start to notice that something is wrong. It was a hard subject to discuss but I was relieved afterwards. I have a daughter myself who is 18 and I can only say that if she came to us with any kind of concern over her health we would move mountains to try and help her.

I have no doubt that this must be a difficult time for you but you really need to know what the cause is and then take action. In the meanwhile thinking about your whole body health can only be of benefit and is far more important than a bit of weight training in the gym. I actually got my Peyronies not long after I started to do big numbers of kettlebell swings with a heavy 23 kilo weight.

On another point dropping from 80 degrees to just 10 in six months with Peyronies is frankly nothing short of a miracle. I had an extremely bad case that most doctors would say could only be straightened following surgery with significant loss in length and the risk of impotence afterwards. I have spent several hours every day for almost two years slowly working out what helped in much the same way as Voodoo has experimented. Becoming vegetarian was part of it but there are other factors like good sleep, exercise and avoiding stress. The huge advantage you have is youth.
