Okay guys one question; is anyone a Democrat around here? I started this thread so we'd all talk a bit and exchange some views and just have some political bullshit but it seems either no Democrats come here or no one wants to admit it. Trust me no one si gonna get in trouble for whatever they say so if you have an opinion post.
Next I just want you to know I'm not even picking on a party. I am just pointing out what I see in some of these candidates that I don't like. Trust me I'm not thrilled about Trump the man but I like what he's doing and I'm open to what you may see in these other candidates that may get me to think differently so chime in if you'd like.
Todays candidate is good ole Beto. This will be short because the man has no chance. He's come out recently stating he will have a mandatory gun by back program by the government. Mandatory mean confiscation except you might get a few bucks back. You think that will fly with the majority of Americans? I don't. Do you think the gang member and drug dealers are going to give their guns back? I don't think so. Strike one Beto.
Beto not only doesn't want a wall built but he wants all existing walls taken down. That's called no border. He believes anyone that wants to come here should be able to no questions asked. So I guess that includes Chinese, Russians and North Koreans if they want to. Okay strike 2 Beto.
Oh the the last strike; having a stupid name which is only meant to deceive Hispanics into thinking he's one of them. He's Irish which should actually be strike 4!

I have wondered if Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourk, had his hands tied behind his back, if he could even talk. This guy is amazing in waving his hands, arms, so often, I think he could fly.
He appears to be in the pursuit of climbing the political ladder, and in somewhat of a hurry. Not garnering much experience at any one position.
He and I don't see eye to eye on his talk of guns, gun control, and a few other things.
wikipedia has this summary; (

O'Rourke was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas, and is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Columbia University. While studying at Columbia, O'Rourke began a brief music career as bass guitarist in the post-hardcore band Foss. After his college graduation, he returned to El Paso and began a business career. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council, serving until 2011. O'Rourke was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 after defeating eight-term incumbent Democrat Silvestre Reyes in the primary.
After being re-elected to the House in 2014 and 2016, O'Rourke declined to seek re-election in 2018. Instead, he ran for United States Senate against incumbent Republican Ted Cruz, running a competitive campaign that drew national attention. Despite his narrow defeat, O'Rourke set a record for most votes ever cast for a Democrat in Texas history. On March 14, 2019, O'Rourke announced his campaign for President of the United States in the 2020 United States presidential election.

Well this thread lead to little if no discussion so I'll just say my last parting words and we'll let it rest until after the convention and see if I'm correct in my pick.
Now as for the election itself, well happily it we be a landslde for Trump and the Republicans. Nancy and Chuckie will both lose their jobs and at least Nancy will retire as she won't be speaker nor will they elect her again as speaker. Time to move on.
Now why do I say happily the Dems will get run over in 2020. The Democratic party today is not what it was. It used to be the party of the common man, the workingman. That was their strength. No matter what candidate I hear speaking rarely is the working man ever mentioned. It's all special interest; free this, illegal that, green this; I don't see very much on making the economy better or creating more jobs. The party has been hijacked by the far left and mot people, most all of us, are in the middle and like it or not Trump is the only guy in the middle.
My bet is the squad will lose a member or two and after getting spanked in this election the moderate Democrats will regain their brains and make the party what it was. The far left will split off to form their own party and it will be no loss for the Democrats.
This country needs at least a 2 party system and only by getting hammered in this election will that 2 party system work for the country again.Back in the 60's, 70's and even early 80's there was little talk of bipartisainship; Congress knew they all had to work together and they did. The last 20 years it has been a bad dream turning into a nightmare.
See America is right down the middle; not far left or right. Today we hear only the extremes and particularly loud from the left. Those extremes are not tolerant of any of us, Dem or Repub that don't think they way they do. That must stop and a good trouncing should shake some sense into the moderate Democrats to make their party great again.
Now if by some chance I'm wrong and the Dems win, well I say we're fucked! The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

The latest CNN/SSRS poll shows that Trump's approval stands at just 39%. That's its lowest level since the beginning of the year, and it's down 4 points since the beginning of the summer.
Importantly, the CNN poll is one of a number of recent high-quality polls that have Trump's approval dropping by mid-single digits since the beginning of the summer. That means it's less likely to be statistical noise.
Its difficult to get a landslide win when less than 40% of the voters think you are doing a good job. It's not just that Trump has a low approval rating. His strongly approve rating of 28% is far below his strongly disapprove rating of 45%.
Before Trump demonstrated his inability to get the deal done, as a candidate, he was able to fool the voters with promises of a tremendous future which got him elected. Now that we have witnessed his inability to perfect his promises, I doubt he will be able to pull the wool over the eyes of the voting public in 2020. Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice. Actually, I would like to know what your issue is with the Irish. Reagan was of Irish ancestry and though he was a Republican, I believe he did a decent job. I also like the job done by JFK. Woodrow Wilson and Andrew Jackson were also of Irish decent. I am of Irish decent and was tempted to to tell you to go F yourself, but realize you were probably attempting to add levity to the discussion.Originally posted by CUSP82 View PostOkay guys one question; is anyone a Democrat around here? A gun buy back program does not mean confiscation of guns. but rather is a voluntary program in which gun owners can turn in their guns for cash. I’m not a strong supporter of such, though it would slightly reduce the number of guns available on the black market. However, we are missing the elephant in the room. Why have we not banned attack weapons? Most all of the mass shootings involved attack weapons. Why do civilians need attack weapons? Is it sportsman like to hunt with an attack weapon?Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

"Importantly, the CNN poll is one of a number of recent high-quality polls " - It is of low quality, as is nearly all the spin stories they cook up.Originally posted by not2big View PostThe latest CNN/SSRS poll shows that Trump's approval stands at just 39%. How about the resistance by the opposition , Ms Nancy Pelosi has actively opposed the President; her record will be evaluated by the public.

How about the Gallop Poll: President Donald Trump's approval rating hit a new low on Monday, matching former President George W. Bush's low approval ratings when he left office after eight years.
Gallup's Daily Tracking Poll showed Trump with just a 34% (lower than CNN) approval rating, his lowest since taking office in January, and a 61% disapproval rating.
Dont tell me Gallop is run by spin doctors.

I wouldn't read too much into Trump's approval rating poles. Trump has his supporters but there was a good portion of voters in the last election that didn't actually vote for Trump, they voted against Hillary and the far left liberal agenda. The demarcates and media dismissed these people and it seems this time they are taking it even further. I see a repeat of the last election coming again. To totally satisfy a woman sexually is not about having a large penis, it's about being a good lover.

Let's talk about this "free education for all" the Dems are promising. The problem I see is that "all" are not going to move on and further education after high school. I did go back to school later in my twenties but when I graduated from high school I opted not to. At the time I wouldn't have been happy to know that money was being taken out of my paycheck to pay for those who did move on to higher education if there was "free education" at the time.
You may say that it was my choice not to, I should have taken advantage of it. So lets say that "all' took advantage of free education and what you would end up with. Your going to have an overabundance of skilled workers without enough white collar jobs to fill them and an overabundance of blue collar jobs that need to be filled. So who will end up filling these blue collar jobs? It's going to be some of the ones that took advantage of the "free education". So now were'er back to square one. There are some that know their not going to cut it or don't have the desire to continue there education and their going to think why would I waste my time doing so if I will just end up in a blue collar job anyways and why should I have to help pay for the education of those who do? Then those who do will later look at the taxes taken out of their paycheck and realize that their education wasn't free after all.
I feel that those who chose to further their education for the higher paying jobs should pay for it and those who opted not o shouldn't be penalized for it with taxes taken out of their check to pay for someone else's education. Even now I, and many others, don'think it would be right for taxes to be taken out of our paychecks to pay for this "free education" when we had to pay for our own. Those who paid for their education and graduated just prior to implementing a free education system are the one who really aren't going to be happy about it. Free education is not as simple as these politicians are making it out o be.To totally satisfy a woman sexually is not about having a large penis, it's about being a good lover.

Sadly the "free" is simply a deception to get votes. There is no way a Republican Senate will pass any free stuff bills and I would bet the Repubs will hold the Senate for some time. The candidates know this but they will say anything to get votes. Watch them all tonight. The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

Why do you alway have to say the “Dems?” Not all Dems are calling for free higher education. Try to be more specific and point out the individual candidate you are referring to. Mayer Pete is proposing education debt forgiveness for volunteers in a service program, Joe Biden was in favor in ‘15 but seems to have reversed himself, Klobuchar is dismissive of the issue, Harris is talking about student loan forgiveness based on career choices, and Beto is proposing partial student loan forgiveness for those spending at least 5 years in education and full forgiveness after 10 years. Not all are advocating “free” education for all.
I agree candidates, including Trump, will say a lot of things in order to get votes. Let’s all watch the Debate tonight and revisit the topic tomorrow.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4
