The word average seems to insult and be taken as a negative by men.
So what is another word that we could re-brand the mid range penis? a word that doesn't offend male ego? a word that can be used proudly..
It always amazes me how many take the word average in a negative way when its being used as a positive.

any ideas?

Bigger than small.

Or maybe Regular

I think its all in the mind, and whichever term is used in replacement will always get the same response from those who were offended by the original term.

There has to be a different way to convey it as a positive message but then again many men (unfortunately) would not be satisfied with adequate, average or enough. They just have to be so competitive about everything especially their penis size.

What I'm trying to say is that no matter what you say, if the guy is self conscience about his size or plain arrogant/greedy won't take it as a compliment, we do have some members who come complaining about a 7.5x5.5 penis being too small and so on.

I agree with MrB8 on the terminology.

But what really changes image is having a very masculine image of an average male. For, me that's the good ol' Greek statues. I have one on my mantle. They're all growers, but to me those men are the proportional and ideal physical image of a muscular man.

I think it is because anyone doesn't want to be average at something that means a lot in such a crucial part of a relationship, same reason those that are not under or overweight want to look better when no one, but them cares. Being average, at least for some people like myself, means they are not good at something they want to be better at. With sex and relationships average is pretty easy to beat and men, and some women, expect them to excel in this area.

As for a new word, you could come up with plenty of them like going to thesaurus.com and this is what average gets us.

boilerplate, common, commonplace, customary, dime a dozen, everyday, fair, fair to middling, familiar, garden*, garden-variety, general, humdrum*, intermediate, mainstream, mediocre, medium, middle of the road, middling, moderate, nowhere, ordinary, passable, plastic, regular, run of the mill, so-so, standard, tolerable, undistinguished, unexceptional, usual

All of them seem like the same thing.

I think it comes down to many things. When any of you were in school and half of your peers were only getting C grades. Would you also be totally satisfied with only getting C's. I wouldn't. Some may be content with a "average" car. It may get you to where your going and is reliable but wouldn't you rather have a Porcshe, Benz or Caddy. Some may be content with winning a bronze metal but lets face it most want the gold. If all other things were equal would guys prefer that their spouse be average in appearence or above average. Wouldn't a good portion of women prefer the same thing. You may be able to get by with a "average" income but a few extra bucks allows you to have more freedom and less stress. I'm not happy being "Joe Blow" and will always strive to be better than the next guy. Most of these things you have some control over. For some penis size or your looks is something that you don't have significant control over in improving. In regards to penis size I believe average is acceptable to most women, but who wants to be just acceptable. We hear all the time about women prefering thicker or longer penises (above average) and how it stimulants the nerves better, reaches spots that the average size may not, allows for a wider variety of positions and is more visually stimulating, etc.

Many have said that if a woman ends up with a guy with a bigger penis that its just a "bonus" and is otherwise not important. If average is just as good as a big one then why is it a "bonus". If I thought that a average size penis could always hit all the same spots and provided the same level of stimulation to the vagina then I for the most part would be content with being in the average size range. If there was no real difference, advantage or "Bonus" then I think most would be content with average. Unfortunately its just human nature for men and women to want the bigger better thing and yes I think this applies to the penis also. Not that it is necessary or required for good sex just that the experience can be heightened. I know this outlook may be depressing to some (it is to me to) and may seem to contradict the therapy type atmosphere here, and I apologise but I do not believe I said anything that is untrue. The facts as I see it even though, unfortunately it may only make the bigger guys feel better about it.

Average itself is a fine word, but it depends on the person. If someone who loved to draw and loved art was told they were average it might crush them or it could be a chance to drive them to become better, but I think the reason average is so detrimental to a guy here is because his penis is something important, which is why they came here.

It all depends on how each person perceives the word average. I know I hate that I am average at almost everything, but have nothing that I am great at as it means I have nothing that really defines me, but that is just an example and people, both men and women alike, have so many ways of seeing things that you never know how each person will react to something like the word average.

yes but with the art you are talking about the quality not the size of it... when average is being used when discussing size its referring to measurement and not the quality. I do get the why men attach the other average even before i made this thread. i made the thread to discuss the topic and to see if there is away of describing the middle size or the medium or the mid range with it being about the size not the quality. And i am wanting to challenge the "if you aren't big you are small" mentality that happens. I mean there are a lot of members here who are small aiming for average but they hear all the time that average is not good enough or worse small (which is not true.)

Because a lot of the guys here have bad experiences with women, or heard stories that if you're not x by x you're not good enough, or porn or even the media about jokes on tv shows about small penises etc. So they automatically think average means medicore instead of medium or the median.
If they started to call B cup or C cup breasts average it would probably have a smiliar effect knowing your breasts are average or thats what your boyfriend/husband thinks they are to him or even vaginal tightness.

Yup and I am asking is there a different word that could be used to change the feel or emotional basis that 'average' has since there is stigma attached to it.
