BOOKS!

...Wait, you can still get books, but there are not many children who read them. I love books.

I don't really know. Of all the things I got I still think you can get it today, just in another form.

Slot cars!!!...I forget what the scale I liked best, but they were the bigger ones we took to the giant tracks where you rented space to race other guys. I'd spend hours there on Saturdays racing everybody with my Ford Lotus GT! It was blue with white double racing stripes over the hood, top & rear...awesome car & fond memories, indeed!

Wire cars ( Draad kar ) It was also fun to make your own as a child. You could run all over with them. Some even came with shocks. Now if you want one you must make it your self.
The best toys I had was Meccano metal set with all it's nut's and bold. You could build your own cars, trucks, airplanes and more with them.

Oh no, today's kids only use mobile phones and computer, they don't know how to play anymore.

being that I'm only 22, most of the things I had as a child are still available.. But I think every kid would love and enjoy one of those carpet mats that have the streets a businesses on them that you can drive your toy cards around on..

You know what I mean?

I would spend hours on this thing with my neighborhood friends. We would ride over homemade ramps, try to do wheelies, and spin out. Ahhhh...memories!

DAY 1 - 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway!!

Do you have a traditional meal you serve/eat for the holidays? If so, what is it, and when do you eat it?

Since we had a technical glitch, I'll give everyone a few extra hours (tomorrow late afternoon) to answer and be entered into today's giveaway!!

Slow roasted prime rib Au Jus w/Yorshire pudding, twice baked potatoes with shredded melted cheddar cheese on top Rosemary, peas with baby carrots in chicken broth with white wine and Herbs de Provence; a mixed salad with pear chunks, black walnuts, ringed red onions, crumbled gorganzola cheese, crisp bacon bits, with a balsamic vinagete dressing and dusted with dill weed and sesame seeds. Key lime pie topped with a scoop of coconut ice cream, soke shreded coconut, and drizled with Capt. Morgan rum. Eat it on Christmas Eve night.

Boy, this is a tough one Kim. Most likely the toys I liked in the late sixties are still around, why, because we liked them. Like Lego’s, matchbox, Barbie, my sisters’ fave, Little People. Not sure how I got into rocketry, but I made, displayed, launched many Estes model rockets. I know they are still around, seen a few at a Hobby Lobby, but I doubt many kids still get into that. Besides I’m sure it would be considered too dangerous these days. ‘You Could put your eye out”. LOL. No more B.B. Guns or air pump fake rifles around either.

Roast Prime Rib with au jus and Yorkshire pudding.
Twice baked potataoe topped with shredded cheddar cheese, rosemary and chopped chives.
Peas with baby carrots in chicken broth white wine, butter, and Herbs de Province.
A mixed green salad (shredded Romain with spring mix) with chopped black walnuts, small pear chunks, crumbled crisp bacon, thin ringed red onions, crumbled Gorganzola cheese, a balsamic vinagret dressing topped with dill weed sprinkles and some sesame seed.
Key Lime pie topped with coconut ice cream, shreded coconut, and drizzled with Capt. Morgan's rum.

Usually eat Christmas Eve night.

Steaming hot home-made french onion soup with "floated" thick-cut swiss/garlic toast, as an appetizer or first course.
Slab sides of home-smoked fresh salmon with a garlic butter & fresh ground black pepper glaze, long-grain wild rice pilaf, brussels sprouts, whole homemade cranberry sauce with fresh shredded carrots.

Carrot cake with cream cheese icing for dessert.
^^^Served Christmas Eve night.

Christmas Day morning we use the cold leftover Smoked salmon on toast points with horseradish mayo, capers, chopped boiled egg & finely diced red onion to go with Mimosas & Bloody mary's for breakfast...Nobody cares what they receive for Christmas, after breakfast, of course!...
