I will also check those books out.

What is a Therawand exactly? I know you stick it up your butt but how does it work? Is it like some kind of vibrator that relaxes your muscles? What if you do find a trigger point? Then what? Do you just hold it on the painful area until it's no longer painful? Also if you get one delivered does it have "Therawand" written all over the box? I don't really feel like going down to the door and collecting it off some delivery guy who thinks I like shoving things up my ass, LMAO.

just get amy steins book. there are around 10 stretches. do em all. i cant tell u specifically what works for what parts since every case is different. but its best to target everything and the stretches will help with that. do not be lazy and do just 2 or 3 stretches. do everything. severe pelvic floor dysfunction is no joking matter. That plus the massages and u will get alright. I'm on my way to complete recovery and i will be making a post with my own insights into this soon enough. Take care and good luck

P.S - as for ur last question, like hans said, why would u even care about what a random dude thinks. Put ur health before everything.

    • you need to do DCT, working on the pelvic floor alone is pointless
      The journey begins :)

When u read about trigger points, u think pressing them would hurt a lot and we go around looking for those points. but that neednt be the case especially if ur case isnt that severe. look for points that feel tense, that makes u feel like oh somethings not right here. then press on them for 30-90 seconds. That is all. Take ur time to do it. And add the yoga stretches too to ur regime. The keep is to keep a happy, positive attitude and keep doing the massages n stretches along with them. Everything will get alright

if u have found them once, they wont be as tense the next time u press on them. just get in there and hold every point u can for 30-60 seconds each. good luck

I could be wrong but I think that the protocol is just a way of treating the symptoms of HF. Idk if it ever gets fully better. At least not in my case. If I masturbate or have sex its back to doing RK's and stretches.

              • Does anyone else get this?

okay so if I hold a very strong Kegel. Like pull up as high and hard as I can. I can't hold it for very long. The muscle gets very tired after about 20 seconds and I have to release. It also feels quite nice when doing this, almost as if the muscle is being stretched... but as soon as I release I immediately go into a reverse Kegel without trying. It's like my pelvic floor just drops all the way to the bottom.

I heard somewhere that this is bad... I'm not sure if that's the truth or reliable though. Does anyone here have any thoughts?

The muscle is dropping because it is fatigued. If you do curls and you go to failure, what happens, your arms drop down in fatigue. Same principle, seems perfectly normal to me. Who told you that?

The protocol is primarily for neuromuscular (pelvic floor) disorders. They can be present with or without hard flaccid. I believe hard flaccid is due to a "pelvic mental distress" that manifests itself into physical anomalies (the actual hard flaccid). Pelvic floor tension can accompany this.

                    • Does anyone else have pain in the perineum through prolonged standing? It made me stop my part time shop job. I'm only 20 but I do have some posture imbalances... but they aren't that bad as far as I'm concerned... not any more. I used to get that pain when sitting for too long but that hasn't been an issue for a while... standing... damn i can't stay on my feet for longer than 1-2 hours without having to sit down.

Prolonged standing causes stress on the body which can render PF tension. Continue with your relaxation and yoga.

                        • What puzzles me is how other people can do this easily. What exercises specifically would help for this? I've done the sitting squat one which feels good but doesn't eliminate this issue.

                          • Nothing specific, as you keep retraining your pelvic floor the muscles will eventually learn to relax more. I also suggest doing some reverse kegels while standing at your job.

                            • I just wanted to chime in with the solution for outlet constipation. I always had to strain to have a bowel movement ever since i got CPPS / Chronic prostatitis / pelvic floor dysfunction and it was the most difficult part of the ordeal for me. its called 'outlet constipation' in medical circles bcuz the stool is formed and ready to come out and is at the outlet, but it is difficult to push out. So anyway I did the stretches in HANS protocol and amy steins books for almost 2 months and altho i felt better i didnt feel significantly better when going to the toilet. today within one week of doing 2 particular things, i am almost back to having perfectly normal bowel movements. What I think helped me the most was -

                              1. Internal massage. I thought i didnt have to do it cuz i had no pain there. but i bought a therawand and put it in and started massaging the inner areas. I held the therawand in for 30 seconds each on every clock point(u can see where every point is when u reeive the booklet with the therawand. or u can google karl monahan he explains it clearly). i wanna give shout outs to the user 99percentcured for this. cuz for a long time i thought internal massage wouldnt matter much. but it did

                              2. Cobra pose . Yes the very simple cobra pose. Altho all of us do it i dont think we do it properly. atleast i did not. what u need to do is as u look upwards( not fully upwards. just as much as u can. do not strain), breathe in and fill ur belly up and then stretch . use ur elbows to prop u up there and stretch. This will help u feel the stretch in the lower abdomen. u have to feel the stretch there. For me, doing this was so comfortable and made me feel so good so i knew something was going on there. i assume it was a tight muscle in there. so that is it.. cobra pose with breathing in until u feel the stretch in ur lower abs. dont strain urself. take it easy.

I am almost cured from this dratted condition. Not fully cured tho. When i get 100% cured, I will write an entire post about things that helped me so i can add to this thread hopefully. Hans Twilight has helped me a lot throughout this ordeal and I am very thankful that the HANS PROTOCOL exists.
