Issues like this are never easy to deal with, but being thankful for even the little things can make a huge difference in quality of life.

      • Party......I know I'm late to the party (boy that sounds weird lol) with this thread, but I have followed it from the beginning. My heart goes out to you, your daughter and your family. My girlfriend has been fighting terminal brain cancer since Nov. 2015. I know first hand the ups and downs, the mental and physical exhaustion, the frustration, the anger, the breakdowns, that comes with it. She too has talked about "quitting", the Doctors have even talked to her "quitting", she turns to me for advice and I have no idea what to say. I tell her it's her decision and I will support in any she makes. Deep down I feel like she wants me to tell her to quit but I can't and won't, I just can't do it. Don't let your daughter quit, keep fighting.

            • She’s in a bad way tonight. Round 4 of 6 cycles, only ate a banana and a small bowl of soup. Her hemoglobin count is lower so looks like a transfusion coming up. It helps to explain her exhaustion. She’s asleep, bald as my butt. Breaks my heart. Ugh.
A prayer, is kinda the same as a "Like". If there are enough likes, God will take notice. So "Like" away please. My daughter needs your prayers. Thank You.

                • I'm sorry to hear that but if the treatment is taking so much out of her, then hopefully it's doing the same to her cancer.

                  Sending my love xoxo

                    • Thank you all for your prayers. Neither of us look like we did just a year ago. We’ve aged. She’s 25, and could be mistaken for 35 wherebefore, she’d get carded when we ate at a bar.

I don't know you but I am very sorry for what is happening to you.

Nevertheless, as hard as it is to see sometimes, for all of us: everything that happens to you is for your salvation. Every wrinkle, every set back, every bit of joy. Trust in God.

Know that you & she are in my prayers. May God Bless you always.

                        • I hope you’re right DT. Ironically, she’s studying to be a Pastor, in Seminary last year. Her faith keeps all of us going. Funny. She keeps us going LOL.

St. Augustine said that God know ourselves and is closer to ourselves than we are. Sometimes He takes the ones he loves for reasons we cannot fathom. But if He does so, it is because He knows better than we do about what is best for her. This world is merely composed of shadows; and fear, smoke and murder. A far greater reality - the eternal city - awaits the elect.

He also - from eternity - knows the effect of every cause. All of the people looking upon her are witnesses to something profound; and He already knows who will follow her and who will reject Our Lord.

Sorry for the sermon; but I'd want to hear that. It's true. Believe. it.

                            • There is more God in you than you in you.

And as for he notion that God takes us out of this life; nope! God gave us life; he cannot take it back. That's called murder which is evil and God is not evil. God is there to welcome us when our imperfect bodies wear out and break down.

Theology makes a distinction between what God WILLS and what He ALLOWS to happen. It's a standard and widely-held distinction with a very long history. Distinctions such as that are usually understood when a person says "God takes..." for the sake of simplicity.
