Unfortunately, the length of the nerve removed makes grafting impractical and likely to fail anyway. So, we met with the nerve surgeon. Number one in her field, actually exactly why we are here. She is very confident that she can rewire the remaining nerves in her hand, along with moving some of the muscles, she will regain use of her hand and have decent feeling through out.

So, the Mrs is on her way home, she's close. Girlie was discharged at 5pm and I wasn't going to subject her or myself to a six hour painful drive. So, father daughter night at our hotel. Watching MASH reruns, again....UGH. She'll be home for 5 days and right back here Tuesday, 4hr prep nerve surgery Wednesday , preparing for the 8-10 hour marathon on Friday. Timmy may be gone but far from good.

Oh. I'm very excited about things so far, so much better than expected. I just don't wanna set my sights too high concerning her hand use and feeling.

I had a lot of damage to my dominant hand due to a car accident, I only have 75% movement but I Am able to perform my duties which are all in my hands. When she is done with surgery and goes in to hand Therapy OT or PT, make sure she does all the routines, they will be very painful but the more the better for getting motion. I worked through my healing process even with the cast on, the nerves damaged and operated on hurt but therapy helped with the healing. Like with your daughter the Doctors were not able to replace my nerve with graphs. they cut the damaged nerves and attached the ends, I lost 25% motion but most people can’t even tell. My hands are always in front of me, they are my work and how I make my product. I am an Interpreter for the deaf. Also typing as soon as she is able, get her to do it. I'm so sorry for your loss and pain. My girlie asked about rehab today with her flap surgeon. She said rehab is quite a way off. Radiation for a few months, then 6 weeks chemo. And you mite regret that PM invite, LOL. Kidding Mr. L4M, kidding.

Thanks man. I hope you never do. It's ok, I mean, we don't sit around crying everyday, normal life interseeds itself, work, school, friends, family, sex....sex? What's that? It's been awhile. Seriously though the first month was the worst emotionally, slowly got better and we got to working the problem, insurance issues, initial tests and appointments, 6 hours away with no prior notice. 'be here tomorrow at 9 am." Ah, ok.

Girly doing well. In fact, she went grocery shopping with us today, cost me an extra $50 bucks, but what ya gonna do? An added issue today. There is a hotel issue when we need to be there next week. The Cubs are in town for a series with the Cardinals, I love my Cubs, but damn. Gonna need to drive awhile to get back and forth. Arrrgh. Go Cubs Go!
