Balloon-ing vs Edge-ing
Throughout this thread I often use the term edging, but I realize that this is misleading. I usually balloon, not edge.
Edging is stimulating yourself until you hit the edge of the Point Of No Return (PONR), then easing back to not ejaculate.
Ballooning is getting as hard as possible without getting to the PONR, and trying to stay there. This is what I do. I stimulate myself to get to maximum EQ without getting to maximum excitement (PONR).
I realize that I have been using the term "edge" incorrectly in my detailing of my routines. So for anyone following or trying what I do, I don't edge, I balloon*. I do not want to get to the PONR.
I (and my wife) have noticed that EQ is usually maximum at the point of ejaculation, essentially 100% EQ coincides with 100% excitement (ejaculation). I want to keep that high EQ as long as possible, but by edging at the PONR it just made me tense and stressed. So I changed the paradigm for myself, instead of edging I decided to try and be able to hit maximum EQ without hitting PONR.
I look at this from two perspectives, one is in terms of PreE: Practice makes perfect. Edging should help improve the time to PONR. That is the idea of edging, push that PONR further and further back. Get up to the edge and push yourself to hold on and control it. Relax, push up against the PONR again, etc.
However, I once read a sexologist write about the relationship between EQ and PreE. One of the reasons why we have PreE is because we are not fully hard when initiating PIV sex. We get too much stimulation in a softer state, and then ejaculate too quickly. I was able to recognize that this was part of my problem. The wife would initiate PIV before I was fully hard, and then I would cum too quickly. However, if I was fully hard when initiating PIV sex, I was able to last much longer. So, for me, as the expert said, full EQ helps longer.
This led me to focus on getting to 100% EQ without getting 99.9% (PONR) excited. Over the years of my practice I have gotten to the point that I can hit and maintain close to max EQ without getting to the PONR. I can get to 100%, and keep it up there at 96-99% for a long periods of time, while keeping the excitement level 89%-94%**.
The other perspective is in terms of PE: ballooning helps growth. Getting relaxed, and then getting as hard as possible, pushing the limits of the erection, helps growth. I think edging with ejaculation does not help as much. In edging the goal is to get excited and near the PONR. This tenses up the erection and does not allow for full expansion ( at least with PreE sufferers). But ballooning is just about getting bigger and bigger, not more and more excited. After a good ballooning session I will often feel stretched and sore, as much as with a stretching or jelqing session.
*At least for the last 3 months. Over the summer I was PONR edging, I do edge, but in terms of onging routines, I generally do ballooning.
**While ballooning if I hit the 95% excitement (this is still well below the PONR), I will hard kegel, which gets my EQ up to about 98%, then hold that kegel for as long as possible. While I am showering I will do that, then while holding the kegel I will wash my hair, or body, or whatever. Up to a minute or longer kegel.
This translates well into sex, as I will keep the excitement level in control, then if the wife is orgasmic, I can kegel and hold there at 95% excitement but with 98% EQ while she does, then once she is done we can keep going. Never hitting the PONR.
