  • Balloon-ing vs Edge-ing

    Throughout this thread I often use the term edging, but I realize that this is misleading. I usually balloon, not edge.

    Edging is stimulating yourself until you hit the edge of the Point Of No Return (PONR), then easing back to not ejaculate.

    Ballooning is getting as hard as possible without getting to the PONR, and trying to stay there. This is what I do. I stimulate myself to get to maximum EQ without getting to maximum excitement (PONR).

    I realize that I have been using the term "edge" incorrectly in my detailing of my routines. So for anyone following or trying what I do, I don't edge, I balloon*. I do not want to get to the PONR.

    I (and my wife) have noticed that EQ is usually maximum at the point of ejaculation, essentially 100% EQ coincides with 100% excitement (ejaculation). I want to keep that high EQ as long as possible, but by edging at the PONR it just made me tense and stressed. So I changed the paradigm for myself, instead of edging I decided to try and be able to hit maximum EQ without hitting PONR.

    I look at this from two perspectives, one is in terms of PreE: Practice makes perfect. Edging should help improve the time to PONR. That is the idea of edging, push that PONR further and further back. Get up to the edge and push yourself to hold on and control it. Relax, push up against the PONR again, etc.

    However, I once read a sexologist write about the relationship between EQ and PreE. One of the reasons why we have PreE is because we are not fully hard when initiating PIV sex. We get too much stimulation in a softer state, and then ejaculate too quickly. I was able to recognize that this was part of my problem. The wife would initiate PIV before I was fully hard, and then I would cum too quickly. However, if I was fully hard when initiating PIV sex, I was able to last much longer. So, for me, as the expert said, full EQ helps longer.

    This led me to focus on getting to 100% EQ without getting 99.9% (PONR) excited. Over the years of my practice I have gotten to the point that I can hit and maintain close to max EQ without getting to the PONR. I can get to 100%, and keep it up there at 96-99% for a long periods of time, while keeping the excitement level 89%-94%**.

    The other perspective is in terms of PE: ballooning helps growth. Getting relaxed, and then getting as hard as possible, pushing the limits of the erection, helps growth. I think edging with ejaculation does not help as much. In edging the goal is to get excited and near the PONR. This tenses up the erection and does not allow for full expansion ( at least with PreE sufferers). But ballooning is just about getting bigger and bigger, not more and more excited. After a good ballooning session I will often feel stretched and sore, as much as with a stretching or jelqing session.



    *At least for the last 3 months. Over the summer I was PONR edging, I do edge, but in terms of onging routines, I generally do ballooning.
    **While ballooning if I hit the 95% excitement (this is still well below the PONR), I will hard kegel, which gets my EQ up to about 98%, then hold that kegel for as long as possible. While I am showering I will do that, then while holding the kegel I will wash my hair, or body, or whatever. Up to a minute or longer kegel.
    This translates well into sex, as I will keep the excitement level in control, then if the wife is orgasmic, I can kegel and hold there at 95% excitement but with 98% EQ while she does, then once she is done we can keep going. Never hitting the PONR.

      The wife and I have been having difficulty finding time to really go at it. Between classes, sleepovers, etc., either she falls asleep too early or my son falls asleep with her. Sunday morning she woke me early because she couldn't wait anymore. She got me hard enough then rode me to a quick but powerful orgasm. She rolled off just as we heard our son coming. This is where that ballooning practice comes in. She did not have to do any jerking or intense movements, just gentle caresses to get me fully hard. "Wow, that's really big!" she said. I was not anywhere near the PONR, only at a 75% on on the excitement scale, but rock hard.

      I glanced up at the clock, thinking we would be stopping there, but she was all hot and bothered, and wordlessly pulled off her underwear and aimed me in the right direction. She was wet and ready, but I was so hard I could not get it in. Usually my wife will initiate PIV before I get to 100%, so by the time I get fully hard, I've been in her for a while and stretched her out. This time I was too hard to enter. "Oh, it's too big!" She moaned, "Please go slowly." We had to spend a good ten minutes in missionary working it in. First just moving the head around the lips, then just the head in and out, then a few inches in.       At one time I got near to 95% arousal, I did a hard kegel and powered through. I was able to use that kegel to keep the PONR away and then relaxed myself by rolling it into a reverse kegel.

      I had her on the edge of orgasm, but wanted to continue, so I changed positions before she came. I rolled her onto her side and entered her sideways. Using the angle of my erection and the angle of penetration I was able to get up into the A spot. I did not thrust hard and fast, just slowly in to the deepest point, where she would spasm, then out again. She gasped "What are you doing to me?" .

      After a little, she could not take it anymore and she rolled into jockey position. This is our go to position, and it means she wants me to bring her home. I was a little excited, maybe 96%, so I pulled out and took a moment to reverse kegel and calm myself. She arched her back pushing her behind up in the air, more of a downward dog position, so I entered her that way, put my erection in about 5 or 6 inches, then pulled it all the way out, waited a moment, teased her lips, then in 6 inches, repeat. Each time I went in deep again she thrust her behind towards and squared herself to orgasm, but I pulled out and pushed her behind down, saying "Relax, don't cum yet...".

      When I was sure I was in control again, still at 98% EQ, but back below 90% on excitement, I got into the proper position to thrust away. It did not take long to bring her to orgasm. I hit about 95% excitement that time, and again I kegeled hard and kept going to bring her off. She had a loud and intense orgasm, after she she collapsed onto the bed and took a few breaths she asked "I'm done, do you want to cum?"

      I relaxed my kegel into a reverse kegel, and answered "I just want to keep going a little bit, it feels really good". And it did; I was rock hard while not above about 90% excited at that moment. It felt amazing to just keep thrusting. She nodded her head and braced herself to keep going.

      I continued at at steady pace, looking down at my erection thrusting in and out, not fast or hard, just enjoying the experience. I did that for a while, in a kind of euphoria, when she whispered in a desperate voice "Don't stop...". I looked up at her and saw she had pushed back up on her elbows, balled her fists and was bracing herself again. That vision amped up my excitement, so I kegeled hard again and brought her to a second loud orgasm.

      At that point she indicated I should pull out. It took her a moment to recover, when she said "Too big today, how is it possible?"

      • My Balloon-ing and Edge-ing

        In my routines I often use the term edging, and I have realized that this is misleading. I will go back and adjust it as time allows to differentiate between times I edge and times I balloon. Both are good for PE and PreE.

        Edging is stimulating yourself until you hit the edge of the Point Of No Return (PONR), then easing back to not ejaculate.

        This is what I do:
        - I get warmed up. I start with just airing the penis out, a few shakes, massaging and scratching. Then do some low intensity stretches, squeezes, helicopter twirls, pelvic thrusts and jelqs to get ready for a good erection (if you look back at my routines you can see specifically the different warm up moves).

        - Once I am all loose and the blood is flowing, I start to get hard.

        - I jerk my penis to get erect. I use alternating hands and reverse grips*.
        • I jerk my penis left hand using underhand grip, thumb out 160 times
        • then with right hand using overhand grip, thumb in 160 times
        • left hand using overhand grip, thumb in 80 times
        • finally right hand using underhand grip, thumb out, 80 times


        - I last did a total of 480 strokes.
        • When I started out, it was far less. I started out by just seeing how many strokes it took to get from (warmed up) flaccid to PONR. Initially it was 120 strokes, or rather, 60 per hand. I was able to move up to 240 fairly quickly, then worked up to 480 (over a total of 2 years).
        • If I am not able to do the full count without hitting PONR, I stop, relax using reverse kegel, then keep going. I set goals for myself and 95% of the time I would do that number, even if I had to stop every one or two strokes nearing the end (meaning I would aim for 80 strokes for one grip, but at times I could do, maybe, 50 then hit PONR, so I stopped, RK, then 10 more, PONR, stop, 5 more, etc. Until I hit that target 80.)


        - Once I am hard I will maintain the erection for 15 minutes or so, using various methods to hit the PONR up to 4 times in that 15 minutes.
        • I do some stretches, but not intense, just pull left/right to make sure the full erection is exposed
        • loose grip
        • ok grip below head to stimulate it to fullest



        Ballooning
        is getting as hard as possible without getting to the PONR, and trying to stay there.

        This is what I do:

        • but I will alternate to help ensure full erection.
        • once I am at about 90-95% I focus on the area just below the head, using ok grip
        • as soon as I feel I am at 100%, or close, I will kegel, moving from back to front (root lock to full kegel) and clamping hard
        • I hold the kegel for a minute or more
        • repeat x5: stimulate up to 100%, hard kegel, hold


        - As much as possible I do not hit the PONR. If I feel I will be hitting the PONR, then I will ease off intensity and do reverse kegels to maintain the erection but not amp up the excitement. If I foresee a big PONR problem, then I will do the hard kegel at 95% excitement level to forestall getting close to the PONR. While hard I will:
        • stretch out the erection in all directions t o ensure it's all exposed and filling up
        • do some twirls, though movement is limited, to shake blood into head
        • massage all the areas of the penis to ensure that all are hard
        • massage the opposite side with obverse fingers...ie: massage the left corpus cavernosum with right hand.

        After all is done, I relax down to normal. At a 15-25% EQ level I will generally do a couple of jelqs and stretches to warm down, then up to 20 helicopter twirls to use the engorgement of the penis to help stretch it out. More on helicopters later.


        *
        I have a curve that I was working on. I try to use the opposite hand and opposite grip double that of my usual hand to work against the curve, especially as I am getting hard.

        • Balloon-ing and Edge-ing: Ejaculate or not?

          I do not ejaculate after either ballooning or edging.

          In terms of PE there has been a great deal of discussion on the forums about the comparative merits of ejaculation or not. I am unsure of the science. The conventional assumption is to wait at least two hours between any PE related exercise and ejaculation.

          Most experts agree that the fluid loss (and composition of the fluids lost) will not really impact post ejaculatory performance. Most of the research is in terms of sports performance, and even then it is limited. But the consensus is that it is a myth that men loose any sort of energy or spirit in ejaculating. There is also a myth that ejaculate contains cerebral fluid, so it impacts mental performance. All pretty much hogwash.

          So why not ejaculate?

          For myself, if I did the exercise (edging/ballooning) and did not ejaculate, then my flaccid hang was higher and the penis remained somewhat engorged with blood for a while after. But if I did ejaculate, the erection would subside quickly and not retain the nice plump engorged state it had after edging/ballooning*.

          That, to me, seems important. After a "workout" I want that warm pumped up feeling. Plus having the blood in the penis for longer is healing. So I determined, as have many, to not ejaculate after any PE work.

          Now, how about PreE? Isn't it part of the training in edging to finally allow oneself to ejaculate? That is how most do it. But, for me, it was a mental step. Knowing that I was going to ejaculate after the edging session seemed to make me want to go faster. I was aiming towards that eventual release. So I set a goal: no ejaculation. Only with the wife in PIV sex, and ONLY after she had had ten orgasms**.

          This was mentally very important to me. I wanted to train my body to not expect ejaculation. It used to be that I associated any erection with ejaculation. If I had a spontaneous erection during the day, I read that to mean I needed to shoot a load. A very adolescent way of thinking. I determined that my big head would be the one to decided when to ejaculate, not the little head.

          So, summing up, for PE work, there are some reasons to not ejaculate in terms of making gains. There is no hard research on this, but the anecdotal evidence is still valid, as it comes from many different men. And for PreE, no ejaculation worked for me. A few people do practice ejaculatory control and we have talked here in the forums. It is a method of countermanding premature ejaculation. Not for everyone, but worth a try of you need to do something to reset your body.


          *Note that I use past tense in writing this. Now I still practice ejaculation control, but I notice that I do not loose my erection after ejaculation. A few posts back I wrote about a recent sexual escape with the wife. At that time I did not ejaculate, and my erection did not fade away; after we finished I was walking around with a good 90% erection for at least 20 mins. A week prior we had sex and I did ejaculate, and for about 10 mins after remained at about 75% erection. Plus I was quickly up to 100% again when I laid down with the wife and she held it to go to sleep. Refractory period is virtually nil. I attribute this to edging/ballooning daily.

          **So my goal was 10:1. Seems crazy, right? But, at that time, my wife was in a PhD program. Home a lot, stressed a lot. She wanted sex a lot. We would have 3 sessions a week. Generally I get her to two orgasms per session. So 10 orgasms is only a two week wait for my own ejaculation.
          This, to me, was a reasonable goal. I am getting older, so less ejaculation is recommended. Also I find that I do not like ejaculating. It meant sex was over, and I had along refractory period. I like the long sex part, not the short shoot part. Anyway...

          • Here is how PE and PreE practice ideally works into a day (for me):

            Yesterday, Thursday, I did my usual quick routine in the morning, just some stretching and limbering up:

            • 40 helicopter twirls, left hand
            • 40 helicopter twirls, right hand
            • 60 1 handed squeezes (right hand then left)
            • 30 two handed squeezes (alternating hands)
            • 30 In-Out Pulls (same grip)
            • 30 two handed squeezes (reverse grip, simultaneous)
            • 30 pelvic thrusts (maintain grip)
            • 30 rolling
            • Stretch each direction for 40 seconds.
            • 10 dry jelqs (left hand)
            • Two handed grip shoulder raises (Count of 40 x 2)
            • 10 dry jelqs (Right hand)
            • 20 helicopter twirls each hand


            As often happens, I got a full erection. I see it as a positive PI. I have been adjusting the intensity of my daily routine, and the last week or so I have found a happy medium in doing the side to sides and squeezes. I have gotten used to doing this type of adjustment, and I can tell I am at a good place once those "spontaneous" morning erections start. In the end the helicopter twirls were not really twirls, more small circles.

            I have also been experiencing night/morning wood that is so strong it wakes me up.

            I did my normal "Afternoon Stretch"

            • 40 helicopter twirls, left hand
            • 40 helicopter twirls, right hand
            • 60 1 handed squeezes (left hand then right)
            • 30 two handed squeezes (alternating hands)
            • 30 In-Out Pulls (same grip)
            • 30 two handed squeezes (reverse grip, simultaneous)

            • 30 rolling
            • 2 Mixed Stretch (Count of 60 each hand)
            • 10 dry jelqs (left hand)
            • 2 Under Leg (Count of 20 each hand)
            • Cross stretch (count of 20 each direction x2)
            • 10 dry jelqs (right hand)
            • 20 helicopter twirls each hand


            I have been doing this on alternating days now. One day side-to-side, next day this.

            As an aside, I will mention the wife was out for meet and greets all day, so she dressed up in a pencil skirt and knee high boots. Late afternoon I ran into her, as I needed to borrow the car, and she did indeed look hot. So much so I followed her home to chat a few minutes. She took off her coat to show off her fashion for me. I immediately got major wood. It was very noticeable. And while she was impressed, she was worried everyone was going to see. I ended up having to sit in the car and let it fade before going to teach.

            That evening I did a short ballooning session in the shower. Being the end of the week (in terms of PE) I just did a simple warm up then got hard. Did a couple of erect kegels, and started to plan out in my head how sex would go later. One of my goals is to be able to last in doggy, so that entered my plan. As soon as I thought about that I hit 110% EQ, not PONR, just peak erection. I kegeled hard and held it. Determining a that to let it go and save it for sex.

            An hour later I got the green light from the wife.

            Before sex I always try to surreptitiously do some PE: I will shake it out, stretch, do helicopter twirls and a couple of jelqs. All to just to be warmed up and limber. I also try an do some pelvic stretches. Last night the wife saw me do that. I was a little embarrassed at first, but we both agreed the end result of doing the exercise first was good.

            The wife, handing me a Lush bar, decided to start with a massage. That is fine with me, as I love rubbing all over her body. It always quickly leads to me getting hard. But this time we did not rush into PIV. I placed my erection on her behind as I massaged her back. She helped me get me really hard by pushing up against and rubbing the erection with her bottom.

            I was pretty impressively hard going in. So I just teased her with it. Soon we were in a half doggy position as I slowly worked it in. It was not easy, but I was able to stay in that position for about 5 minutes, working it in deeper and deeper, and did not hit the PONR.

            Soon she was ready to orgasm. We slipped own into jockey and I drove her home. The position adjustment allowed me to maintain control on my excitement, and I was able to thrust through her first orgasm and keep going until she had a second a minute later. As she approached the second I was getting excited, understandably, but I did a root lock kegel before I got into PONR territory and made her orgasm. Essentially it was the first time I gave her a true multiple orgasm.

            She was euphoric, as was I, and we just wanted to continue. We were no longer aiming for orgasm, just riding the high of what we had accomplished. After about 25 minutes in jockey and then missionary she wanted to switch to cowgirl. She climbed on top and as it went in she exclaimed "Oh, it's so hard, it feels like a fireplace!" In the heat of the moment I did not question that...

            After a while in cowgirl she was having a hard time, she wanted to orgasm, but I was so hard it was uncomfortable for her on top, so we switched to jockey again and she quickly came a third time.

            • Continuing on that theme, of how PE and PreE practice ideally works into my day to day:

              Friday I was feeling a little sore, but still did a short routine upon waking up. However, sensing that I had been using it pretty intensely, I determined to just do a basic routine:

              • 30 helicopter twirls, left hand
              • 30 helicopter twirls, right hand
              • 60 1 handed squeezes (right hand then left)
              • 30 two handed squeezes (alternating hands)
              • 30 In-Out Pulls (same grip)
              • 30 two handed squeezes (reverse grip, simultaneous)
              • 30 pelvic thrusts (maintain grip)
              • 30 rolling
              • Stretch each direction for 30 seconds.
              • 10 dry jelqs (left hand)
              • Two handed grip shoulder raises (Count of 30 x 2)
              • 10 dry jelqs (Right hand)
              • 20 helicopter twirls each hand


              In the evening, picking up where we left off the night before, my wife teased me thinking I would not want to go at it again. But I told her I really wanted to have round two. As I had not ejaculated in a while I was experiencing blue balls all day.

              I did a normal workout late evening (before and in shower):
              • 30 helicopter twirls, right hand
              • 60 one handed squeezes
              • 30 two handed squeezes (alternating hands)
              • 30 In-out Pulls (same grip)
              • 30 two handed squeezes (reverse grip, simultaneous)
              • 30 pelvic thrusts (maintain grip)
              • 30 rolling

              Once again I was still feeling a little sore, so I opted to not do side-to-sides and erect squeezes.

              Once the son was safely sleeping, we went at it. I was hard quickly and she was hot and ready. She figured it would be a quick wham-bam-thank-you-mam. But after years of training I just do not cum that quickly.

              We started out in jockey, and that is my easiest position. As with previous nights, I got fully hard before entering her, and it took some working to get it in. This is where thought, timing and PE come together. I took time to get hard, really hard, and I was soon experiencing a skin-splitting erection. This is why I opted out of intense routines. I knew I would be giving myself an intense “edging” session with the wife.
              I pulled her up into a half doggy (still not ready for full doggy) and worked it in slowly. By the time I was in deep she was ready to orgasm, so we slid back down into jockey and she had a good orgasm. As with last night I did not stop, and she said "Keep going, cum". But I am good in jockey, I kept thrusting and did not even consider getting a condom. I went for another 5 minutes, just slow and steady, keeping her on the edge.               • I took a day off PE on Saturday, as well I should.

                And I thought I’d worn her out, but when I got to bed that night she curled up beside me and went right to massaging me to an erection. I got really hard really quickly. There was no post nut weakness, I was rock hard standing straight up. I don’t think she was expecting that, whispering in Korean “How is it possible?”

                Then she said, again in Korean, “I must be crazy!” and she climbed into cowgirl position.

                She took a long time working it in, all the while whispering in Korean “It’s too big…it’s too big…”

                She remained on top for a while, longer than we have recently. First she rode me, just going straight up and down on me.                         I am taking a few days off from PE, and maybe because of that (and lowered stress as I am off work, too) but morning wood the last couple of days has been impressive.                             • Normally it’s just in the palm of my hand with the thumb away from body
                            • I have a curve that I want to work against, so I will go overhand thumb in for my right hand, meaning the palm is on the left side of the penis.


                          Rolling Exercise (30 times):
                          • Roll your penis gently back and forth between the palms of your both hands.
                            • Palms of hands on either side of penis, raise one hand and push down the other, alternating to roll the penis


                          2 Handed Squeezes:
                          • Two fisted grip on penis, left above right, both use ok grip with palms in, thumb away from body
